Watinhel happened to Photobucket??
I just spent the best part of an hour trying to go through my main and sub albums in Photobucket. When I say trying - it was incredibly s-l-o-w. Worse, the NEW version that is forced to a few weeks ago has totally scrambled my line up of pictures. For the most part, it really doesn't make a lot of difference - except I knew approximately where they were Then even worse then that, somehow, I ended up with photos that I had never seen before, including an Asian car wreck complete with sheet bundled body ready for a meat wagon. HUH!!! I finally gave up so not sure how some of my sub albums are now, but if as crummy as the main.... bad news (hope there are no XXX photos in them as I don't do that crap)
My first thought is - I'm moving my photos elsewhere, but at this point don't know where yet. A couple of review sites suggest that Flickr is the best, but the new Photobucket at this point is NOT where I want to be - and possibly never again.Dave W

I've been using Photobucket for quite a few years and have thousands of photos there, and I held off switching after I tried the new format but inevitably the change was done. I really hate the new format and I'm still hoping I get used to it and how to handle it. But right now it's more cumbersome than the old layout. However, I haven't noticed any jumbling or random stuff showing up on my account.
I also have an account at Flickr since they allow me to save and post photos that Photobucket considers inappropriate. None of these are porn by my standards but are not appropriate for a young audience or even adults with more conservative standards than me. I like Flickr and have nothing negative to say about it. Give it a try if you're fed up with PB.

Dave, I did the "beta" version on PhotoBucket some time back and pretty quickly opted back to their original format, but as you say they are now forcing the move. Having some experience with the development package I'm not bothered with the format, and I've not seen anything that would cause me any concern, yet... Based on what you've posted I'll be watching. A friend of mine uses Fotki exclusively, but so far I've been OK with the bucket.Roger

Roger -until today, I just didn't care for the new version but accepted it as 'an improvement' that I had to get used to. Going in this afternoon and finding my photos scrambled irritated me - but the several photos never seen before that magically appeared plus the fact that they are pushing a story line then being impossibly slow is too much of an 'improvement'. Then there are about a dozen photos that I uploaded last week that aren't anywhere after 2 attempts even though the masthead said they were loaded. I've beed a loyal 'bucket person for almost as long as they've been around - since Shutterbug failed about 2004/5. I did a quick peek at some of the latest reviews and others have had some of the same problems as I have had. While I'm not going to go away totally - yet, at least until I can find something better, then most likely will.Dave W

Y'all are not alone - - - - it has been giving me hell. Especially after you upload a pic and then you can't find it. I too opted not to use the new version but Y'all know how long that lasted. I even tried switching to Image Shack but I could only post a link and not the pic on the actual page. If you find any solutions you like, please post'em up here..

I've also had problems uploading pics into my preferred folder, even if I'm in that folder when I initiate the upload. A few times it worked, other times it shows up in my "library" front page folder; then if I don't want it there I use the tools icon to move it to the correct folder. This stupidity has to be a glitch and I'm counting on them to correct it soon.

Em - do a search on photo sharing reviews. Flickr seems to come out on top while PB isn't mentioned in some in the top whatever number, 5, 10 etc.
Nick - that why I'm not abandoning it totally yet, but these problems in some manner have been going on since the Aug 2012 debut with the 'new' version. I only went to the 'new' when forcedDave W

I'm not seeing any problems with PhotoBucket, other than some of the "things" used for actions are in new places but also seem to be improved in function. As for getting things in the right folders, once you hit "Upload" with it's green arrow, the new screen has a box to "drag & drop", but also the option to browse your computer which is the method I use; but before going there look to the upper left, just above that "drag & drop" box and you see a small destination box which defaults to "Library" with a drop down action that lists all of your folders, plus the ability to create a new folder right there. Once you have your destination listed it's an easy process to select the photos, either individually or in bulk using "SHIFT + click" to grab everything at once, or "CTRL + click" to select random images from a folder and upload the lot.
Oh, and I did a quick check of my library and didn't find any "extra's" in my stuff like you did, Dave. So far the uploads, using the bulk feature, have been quick, except for the time I selected several 15 megapixel frames (about 6MB each) in error. Now THOSE were slow....Last edited by rspears; 03-17-2013 at 06:25 AM.

Emmet, from what I've seen it doesn't matter what folder you're looking at when you select "Upload", you have to select the destination for your files or they default to your "Library", which is like throwing things in your "Pictures" location on the computer, without selecting a folder. I just hope that the system doesn't go "flaky" on me now, after hearing all of the problems you guys are having!!Roger

I subscribe to the KISS way as far as apps like Photobucket. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be improved - but IMO it ain't. It was one simple key click upload to whatever album or sub album you designated. So far, KISS seems to have vanished from the PB lexicon. I really do not want to literally spend hours straightening my album(s) out. I add photos the way I want them displayed, not some geek sitting in his darkened cube to make that decision for me and for me to tell what they are promoting as 'stories'. THAT IS MY CHOICE. Additionally, most web sites now will allow you to post photos from your own hard drive so the importance to me is diminishing since most of my albums are not public anyhow.
My alluded to statement is - please fix it or I'm history along with from what I can see, many others.
Roger - if you are making it work for you, then that's what you need for photo storage. Mine are on two different hard drives - and originals will stay there regardless. When I find a decent - for me - alternative for copies that can be shared, I'll go there and upload another car/personal/trip/RV, etc. set of albums.
PS - Tried Flickr - uhhhh, guess I'll look some more. One that I want to find more out about is Dropbox which appears to be way more then a photo sharing siteLast edited by IC2; 03-18-2013 at 05:20 AM. Reason: added a PS

Derek - thanks for jumping in. As this appears to be a 'canned' response rather then one tailored to my OP, I'm guessing that unless I post to Facebook (not gonna happen as I don't/wont do FB) my concerns wont be answered. That's unfortunate as others beyond this Forum have the same problems. No, I haven't as yet gone through the videos but will in the next day or so just in case it might stop me from migrating to a more user friendly photo sharing site - though really do not care for dumbed down video information, preferring to be able to read and go back and easily re-read if I missed something instead of having to either start over or try to find the place with a slider that may or may not work right. Once I go through the FAQ's and videos, may respond with more comments though unfortunately, as it stands at this point and my opinion as OP, you appear to have 'broken' a good thing.Dave W
