What is this POINT thing on the forum?

Keep seeing things on the forum that I just haven't seen before, Not sure if having 10 points on a thread is a good thing or a bad thing? Could someone point me to a thread that explains the points given to a thread and what it means and also curious what this like and not like thing is all about? Thanks in advance. M.T.

I don't know about no points thing, though I'm sure you're right and it's probably there. I don't need no stinkin' points

As far as the like thing, I just hit the "like" button for your post above since I like it. If you particularly like a post or just feel like doing it for the hell of it, go for it. In fact, now that I think of it, you could even use it to "like" obviously unlikeable posts and in that case it could be irony or sarcasm, which can add complexity and depth to our understanding of your likes and dislikes. Liking can be a powerful thing!

Good enough on the Like issue... as long as it doesn't go on my permanent record all is well. So what and how does the point system work? And how do I get points taken away? And lastly, how many points do I need to go on the big ride?

I just noticed at the top of your first post in this thread there is a "rate this thread" button. Maybe that's the points thing you speak of? In any case, I rated this thread "excellent". One reason is that as long as I stay on this forum I don't have to do the dishes from yesterday and today.

As far as "turned into the government" all I can say in all honesty is that since I joined this Club HotRod Forum instead of paying over $7000 to the IRS on April 15 as I had to in the last few years, this year I got back almost $5000. I rest my case! Thank you, CHR.

Where do you see this "points" value? I've never noticed it, and have no idea what you're referring to unless it's the "Likes"?

Funny thing is that I cant find the point thing anymore myself? I just looked back where I posted and saw it before and it is not there any more! Some forums have different titles for different post counts so the more you post and hit different levels of recondition your title changes. Maybe I had that showing on my screen for some reason? I still cant access the Home page? Im having some glitches on occasion but its not worth messing with as I can see the important stuff... I think? And just an FYI, being Im new here I like each and every post so dont go feeling extra special or anything. LOL
