New Weekend! I guess I'll continue on the deck re-staining until my boxing plates get here! So far did our two redwood decks, side of house and front. Today will hit the hot tub cedar siding on the side deck, and then clear off and restain the back porch which is the biggest one at 9'x30'. My back and knees ache just thinking about it, but will be worth it in the end The back deck is Ipe wood, which doesn't like drinking in the stain as it's a very dense and resinous wood, but takes on a teak look after, so it's worth it!
and now today's project:

Dog is Pretzel, where ever I go he's there. Best buddy a person could have. Yes the fence has morning glory on it, as my neighbor refuses to pull weeds or garden, fortunately for us her house is for sale, as soon as she's outta there I'll go and pull up all the morning glory. Once sold, I'll talk with new owners about cutting down the Eucalyptus trees which are very messy indeed!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

That looks like a great hot tub setup. I actually like morning glory ...even the floral variety ...as far as the vines grow I just have to keep them under control. The eucalyptus brings back memories of my dad. When we were kids and had a sniffle or worse he would always rub a little eucalyptus oil on our chest, throat, under our noses. It always made me feel better and even now whenever I see eucalyptus I snatch a leaf and go around smelling it as long as it lasts.
My dearest is a scaredy cat chicken about driving on highways with a loaded car. No point in me pushing on that point since it is what it is. As I was bringing up the roadster plan she even reminded me about her fear.
I will post pics back and hopefully with some willing beach babes sitting in the hot rod.Nick

The hot tub comes in handy after long days like today slaving away on my knees(at 50 I guess I should hire someone else to do it, but I'm too much a perfectionist to do it right the first time, which most contractors don't seem to want to do, and those who do charge a lot for it. he worst part was squatting down with a shop vac and screw driver sucking up all the stuff caught between the cracks in the deck. Then scrubing the wood with deck cleaner. Long process but worth it in the end. So at the end of the day, I do it myself, and get free exercise in the bargain, knowing somewhere my mom and grandma are smiling thinking he learned that lesson! Decks are clean now, water is drying and dogs are mellow. Good day!Last edited by stovens; 07-27-2013 at 04:00 PM.

I realize it's not Friday today but I wanted to make a brief report of our stay at the Jersey shore. This house has a wooden plank hanging over the kitchen door with two NJ license plates on it; one is a '28 and the other is a '32. Thank you for your attention. As you were. At ease, folks.

Em,
I'm not making an offer on this NJ plate but it inspired me to search for one from PA and there are some available. I just want to find the right one, preferably original unrestored but in decent shape. It also made me look up the PennDOT laws about vintage plates so that clearly indicated I won't be running the plate on the car.Nick

Move to Texas - - our Gubmint is nice to Classic and Hot Rod Owners. Buddy of mine from Minnesota says that his State is the best State for Car Enthusiasts but who wants to live in Minnie-Sody? JK, Y'all, JK.

Michigan you can run a historical plate ($30. for 10 years) or a plate from the year the car was made ($35. for ten years) I just found one with my initales on it cost $20. so for $55.00 I'm good for 10 yearsCharlie

Does that include your registration, Charlie? If so, then it's better than here because it's around $55 here for 5 years just for the registration - - - and you buy your own plates, if they are Vintage. I'm just running Antique/Classic Auto Plates from the State on the '62..

Kansas says vintage plates only for OEM vintage steel, in original form with only "safety & efficiency" modifications which is a recent re-write. So a guy running full fenders with a new power train and juice brakes can probably get buy, even after market wheels with bigger tires "for safety" (restorods), but a glass replica, or a highboy style forget it. And I have a pair of '33 plates that were never issued, still stuck together by the protective paper when I got them, but they're collectors items for me at this point....Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

That gets your registration and all Only need proof of insurance. I only insure mine for 6 mo. the rest of the time its in the garage....... I know what if theres a fire. Guess I'll figure that out if the time comes. Vanity plates cost $75. a year. I just dropped them on my pick up. To much money for that stuff.Charlie
