With the new finish the deck looks great!

I think PA is considered hot rod friendly but probably not the most friendly of all the States. I'll just quote and copy this reply about it posted on another site:

We can thank our former Governor, I believe it was Ed Rendell, (my politics sucks, I can never remember who's in office), who wheeled around the capitol in a wicked '34 coupe. Until then we had to have bumpers and fenders etc. We now operate under the SEMA suggested legislation. A good example of SEMA/SAM working for us and car guys showing politicians what needs to be done...

The deck refinish looks good Steve. What product did you use and how long has it or would you expect it to last? Ipe is tough because of the density as you said. I'd love to get the original color I got the first time with a clear sealer (below) but it just doesn't work that way. I suppose a full sanding first would bring it close, but this chronologically gifted geezer won't be doing that....

You guys are making me feel better about our program in Wa. YOM plates on anything with an appropriate title, $35 one time fee "for life", or til transferred.

Great looking decks guys! Nick, enjoy your trip/vaca. That definitely sounds like a relaxing deal. Saturday morning I helped my Aunt with a Marfan run/walk she puts on to raise awareness and support for Marfan's Syndrome. The rest of the day I cleaned my shop and removed parts from cars I'm parting out. Went out to supper with the family. We went to Menards after to get supplies to redo our basement floor. We laid down carpet tiles in the early spring to provide an indoor play area for the kids. Well all the rain we got flooded the area, I ripped them up and that was that. Sunday morning I swept the basement floor and started laying down the carpet tiles. In the afternoon I finished cleaning up our 455 mess in the shop, then we pushed in our Excursion and I started working on it. It was absolutely beautiful for July in Iowa as well! I could handle this year round!

Messner's UV Plus Natural color stain for hard wood decks, Bob. It only lasts about two to three years at a time, but the best I've found so far. It brings out the original color of the wood, I just use a deck cleaner and scrub brush for prep, no sanding!

Even though it's still Wednesday around here, on our way back from dinner tonight I did a quick "U-bee" and went back to get these pics. The nice lady who suddenly appeared out of nowhere didn't know much about it but I gave her my number so she can tell me more about it:
