It would be cheaper for the taxpayers if they just made a stay at that facility a mandatory part of their exit strategy."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.
"LIVE" your life like you could die tomorrow.

That's the place that advertises 'if you can eat it in a certain time frame it's free' isn't it?
Man, I'd be way out of my depth there!
I used to laugh at my old Dad; we'd turn up around tea-time, and he'd be sitting down to one sausage, half a spud, and a spoonful of peas.
"Do you call that a meal? It's not even a snack!"
But now . . . thirty years later . . . (sigh) . . . that's about the limit for me too!

That's the place jb! It's just a nice evening meal - Shrimp Cocktail, Baked Potato, Salad with Roll, Butter, and of course the 72 oz. Steak and they give you an entire hour to finish!! Here's the rules, in case you're up to showing the locals how it's done....
The 72oz Steak Rules | The Big Texan Steak RanchRoger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Jerry,
From the "History" tab on their website, the restaurant opened in '60 on Route 66, but when I40 pushed through in the early '70's they built a new, bigger Big Texan Steak Ranch out on the new highway, moving the original big neon sign by helicopter. Just wondering, is it the new place out on the interstate that you're remembering, or the old one?Roger

I guess its the newer one as only times I have been there are late 69( saw signs along road on moving trip from Washington DC to LAZ (don't remember it from that trip) and a number of times when we went racing in Texas plus our road trip couple years ago-------
When we go out for the CHRR at Bakersfield in October, I'm planning to do the space shuttle deal---think I'll see if they will allow me to hook my F350 to it for equal time on the bridge-----------

Johnboy, I believe the Toy Museum in Stanton is closed or at least it appeared to be last weekend. Stop and see, as it is at the exit for Meramec Caverns so its not out of the way.

Just checked the internet and it says the Toy Museum closed in 2009. But you can go to the Jesse James wax museum next door.

Six more sleeps and we'll be landing in Chicago.
We're both looking forward to it . . . and to getting to meet up with some of you lot too.
We'll be en route on Route 66!
(Yeah yeah, a bad pun I know; but I couldn't resist it.)
I'd better go check my lap-top, see if it still fires up; haven't used it in a while . . .johnboy
