Enjoy your day Mike.............and the other vets as well.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Thanks for posting that, Mike. It's a special tribute that still rings true, perhaps today more than in many other times. To all fellow vets, thank you for your service, and thank you for your support.Last edited by rspears; 11-11-2013 at 06:56 AM.

update on Charlie. He is on board USS Virginia doing his quals. He pulled out in August. He is a blue nose now and is really enjoying his port of calls as the drinking age over there is 18. Loves submarine life. What most surprised him was how very friendly the people of foreign ports have been to him and the crew. They have visited 2 ports so far and have yet been allowed to pay for a beer or meal in a restaurant.BARB

Barb, thanks for the update! I hope that Charlie continues to have positive experiences in the ports of call he gets to visit, and glad that he's already seen two in the three months they've been out. Once again please pass on sincere thanks to him for his dedication and willingness to serve.Roger

Happy Veterans Day to all, even that old guy looking back at me from the mirror-------Yesterday we had a get together at my sisters house in Atlanta Il with me, her, and our older brother (retired NAvy) from Florida---he just last week had 5 stints replaced, so its precious times that we do see each other----
After hours of talking about Veterans Day for veterans we got around to talking about how we used to look forward to it---not to honor our uncles, neighbors, etc who had SERVED, but going hunting with them because that's when some part of hunting season opened
(maybe quail season) and there would be probably7 or 8 and sometimes more-----of course us kids, had to jump up and down on the brush piles to scare out the rabbits ---------------
Any way-------happy V day and looking forward to many more-----------

Spitfire 944, Great Historical Video
Think about how far we have come from WW2, to today's drones.
In a period of about 70 years. not to say to the moon & back. Hoping all enjoy this.
Here is a WWII pilot telling of an experience and gets a surprise...worth watching....
This is amazing that they were able to put this together. Great stuff.
What a terrific presentation and footage.

Hey mike missed your post when I posted same message. Important to remember the sacrifices our family and friends have made to ensure our freedom. Sad day for all those who have suffered for our benefit, but proud day to honor them for their service" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.
