I've been on the phone a couple times today with my son who's a freshman at Michigan State (Go Spartans! Go Green!) in East Lansing. So far they're just getting torrential rain and high winds. Just in case things escalate, the students have been issued instructions to take shelter. I don't suppose you need a college education to know to take shelter during a tornado.Nick

We were in Morris (15 miles away) at the time, but our house didn't get hit, came within about a mile though. Because of downed power lines we couldn't see much last night. Here's a few from the perimeter.
2 miles south of us
1 mile south
1 mile south on our street
3 miles east. Golf course. Hey the water tower I lettered is still there.
From our driveway
Sign I did for the golf course last year will need a little work, I don't warranty for tornados.

Anyone who's never been in an area when a tornado hits can't really fathom the extent of damage they can do!!! Thanks for the shots, Pro! Been awhile since we've had on around here, and I hope it's a long time before one shows up!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Ummm . . . we do Robin.
Not as large or as powerful as that thank God.
But there was one hit around Urunui either last year or the year before that created a fair amount of damage, they also strike fairly regularly around the Oaonui area, and some ten years or so ago one hit at Opunake and killed some poor fella . . .johnboy

Man, I'm glad all of you in that area are alright! One of the most eery feelings to me is at night after a tornado has passed. You have that feeling like there could be another right behind it............ I saw on the noon news today that in Illinois there was only one death and they found the man a block I think from his house dead unfortunately. His house was leveled. Those things aren't anything to mess with. It seems really odd to be having naders in November. Crazy weather lately..........Ryan
