Yeah, those old car carriers had the cars on top totally exposed, and riding high. We lived in the little town of Noel, MO when I was a kid, and at the time Highway 71 ran by town along the river, a narrow two lane roadway, and there's a bluff that hangs over the highway right at Noel. If you're headed south, that lane has considerably lower clearance than the northbound lane, and it was not unusual for a truck driver that was not familiar with the road to scrape the tops of the cars riding that top position - at night sparks would fly if you happened to be in the right place at the right time. This picture is looking north, years before they put a guard rail on the river side.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

WOW! Do you know if it is still like that? With the overhang I mean.. That has a "fantastic" look about it.. certainly not something you see everyday.

Since I'm looking forward to having a hangover soon after belting down a few bloody mary's, I thought I'd post a local hangover ...errr I mean over hang.
This one is a couple miles from my home along Gulph Road in Lower Merion Township, and let me go on record to say I'm pissed about how they ruined a historic rock just so stupid people don't crash into it. I figure pretty soon some assinine committee is going to remove the Statue of Liberty's right arm since it might get in the way of low flying aircraft or birds:

It's the same the whole world over . . . and 'they' (the nameless faceless bureaucrats,) have the temerity to call it 'progress'.(!?!?)johnboy

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
