I Remember When.............
I remember when I was doing the same thing with this father as he is doing with his son.

That's a great picture, Joe! It's really special to see a son or daughter loving their little ones, and those cuddling pictures are special.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Thanks for posting the pic because it reminded me of holding my daughter. She comes home today and is a sophomore in college. Every once in a while when she is having a hard time, she will still crawl into my lap. Enjoy those moments now because time goes so quickly.

That circle of life thing again Joe. Glad you recovered your original persona BTW.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Doesn't get any better than that and they grow up so fast so let them know that they are loved and cared for early and often.
Got to put my arms around my 2 grown grand kids yesterday evening and I'm still smiling..

I know what you mean & the thing is as kids we didn't get.
We grew into teenagers and we understood it very little.
As young adults we start asking questions about certain things and we learn a little more.
As older adults we actually started to listen and remember things we had been told in the past.
As we grew older & had kids we began to see the things our parent figures told us about and began to truly understand them.
I remember some 30 plus years ago riding w/my dad to take my sister Sheila to the airport(She lives in Calif) to catch her flight home and I watched my mom as we left. What a saw was a very unhappy person crying. I knew she was upset about Sheila leaving but never thought it would be that hard on mom since she was a strong woman. After dropping Sheila off at the airport & saying our goodbyes my dad & I drove back home. As we drove I asked my dad about why mom was acting the way she was but let him know I knew she was upset about Sheila going home but.....
My dad explained it to me like this & I wouldn't understand until I had kids & they left home... He told me, Son, it's like this. There is only one thing in this world that your mother has wanted since you kids have grown up & left. AND that is to have you all back home or at least within a short drive. To her, you kids are still her baby's even though you're as old as you are.
I did understand a bit but never understood it fully until our son was born. As he grew up I kept hearing those bits & pieces of those things my parents had told me in the back of my mind, what little I had More & more of those things I didn't understand even as a young adult kept popping up & happening to us. You know the stuff, kid/kids are born, they learn to walk, they say their first words, all the bumps, scrapes, bruises, & broken bones, they go to school, then some go to college, work, or military depending on what their goals are. Ours joined the Marines
Then it happens, Joe,Jr LEFT THE NEST and the cycle started over. Denise & I became that worried parent & the ones who cried when Joe left to go overseas or just to go home (17hrs). Joe couldn't understand why mom was crying & I told him the same story my dad had told me.
So the cycle begins again..........
