    NASCAR At Fontana

If you didn't watch the Nationwide race today, you probably just missed the best race of any of the 3 top divisions for the year!!! Kyle Larson held off Harvick, Busch, and Logano for the last 40+ laps to get his 1st ever Nationwide win!!!! You know you're the best when you beat the best!!!! Kid is awesome!

Dunno if he's the best or a flash in the pan.. time will tell. Was a good win tho'!

Tomorrow will be a game of keeping tires on the cars I think.

Watched him a few times on dirt and pavement in open wheel stuff.....He's the real deal! Saw him win on the paved mile in a Champ car on Friday night, then win in both the midget and the sprint on the dirt at Anderson the next night!!!! Got car control better then anyone I've watched at his age short of Jeff Gordon..... He's a phenom in NASCAR----he'll move the car around on the track to see where it works best rather then just tell the crew chief what the car is doing wrong.. Smart kid, another of those California circle burner's that is 21 years old and already has 15 years experience! He held the same line with the same lap speeds (+ or - a few hundredths) for better then 50 laps today, was watching on the NASCAR site where you can zero in on certain driver's. He did the same thing in the Nationwide race at Bristol last week, just came up one spot short behind Busch..... Yeah, he's the real deal!!!! My crystal ball see's Smoke dumping Danica at the end of the year and getting Larson!

Bold prediction! Only time will tell. Maybe we need to name him "more sliced bread"? I don't think Lagano would mind!

He's got more potential then Joey Bologna ever even dreamed of having!!!! Reason I say he'll wind up with Smoke is that they're the same kind of driver and coming out of the same background. Same reason Harvick wound up there. Those dirt tracks were Harvick grew up are similar in size and make up to a lot of the USAC tracks that Smoke dominated. IMO (and hinted at a couple years back on Smoke's web site) is that Smoke and Haas are looking for a team of aggressive, car smart, drivers and crew people who "grew up" doing the same things in the same kind of neighborhoods. If you ever get a chance to watch Larson in a USAC car, go! You'll see the resemblance to Smoke! PS--Betcha Larson has a really first rate truck ride this year for the dirt race at Eldora!!!!!!!

BTW, today's race is a sell out, Hamlin has a sinus infection so Sam Hornish is filling in for him!

Wrong tire, rough track, too much camber!!!!! and when it's all over the dirt burners are all up front!!!!!! Adverse conditions make the driver's with car control just stand out that much more!!!!! Lousy race, but then school isn't always fun, is it???

Heck, even the king dirt burner admitted they were lucky!! Strange day of racing with so many with the wrong setup and abusing tires.

I thought Jeff Gordon had the field covered until they picked up a vibration. Then a yellow with 3 laps.. it made for a terrible end to a terrible race.

Glad it's over, now back to a small track! 8-)
