My area just lost an iconic building
One of the very last hotel resorts left in the Catskills of NY, The Rexemere was converted into an education facility in 1965 after being donated by it's owner for $1, and eventually it led to the whole vocational studies programs we have in this area.. Interior wise, only the first couple floors of the 7 floor complex have been maintained for many years, and the vocational programs pulled out their offices and it was put up for sale recently and was going to be restored.. Sad it's totally gone now. They had to shut the town down to try and contain it.. They also put on a really good car show each year sponsored by the Rotary club

Looks like that wagon got toasted, too! Sad when cool old buildings go down."It is not much good thinking of a thing unless you think it out." - H.G. Wells

Yep. Lots of history. Both the building itself, and what was in it.. The vocational program ran a free to schools education material library out of the basement, where any school in the district could order materials to use for their studies, and they could have them for 2 weeks. A lot of those education materials were very old. Much of which was old and donated when the building was turned into an educational facility. Plenty of books which were 100+ years old, along with nifty things like reel to reels and other things.. I know the vocational programs pulled out the offices from the building 2 years ago, but I'm not sure if they pulled out the library from the basementYou don't know what you've got til it's gone
