Lengthy if not permanent leave
After much, much thought and consideration----I am thinking very strong about following the lead of several other CHR members and leaving this site---it has turned into being hard and too time consuming to work with to share my love for hot rods and race cars along with occasional side trips into aviation or military stuff.
I presently have Robin's 33 ford 3 window, a cabrilet, two roadsters and a Everett-Morrison Cobra (Bonneville project) to work on plus doing some refresh on the old Firebird Pro-Stocker which I want to take to the salt flats for some of the preliminary stuff about going fast. I know (think) that I can go over 200 mph with it so should be acceptable for the rookie stuff!!!!
I've (seemingly with lots of others) gotten tired of bickering with people who ask questions about things but don't want answers, people who want pics, but don't want to support maybe getting the site changed enough to easily post them, etc, etc
I like photography, and along with cars, airplanes and road trips would love to post pics of mine and other peoples work but the dozen or so active members here are more interested in the 3 work thread or supporting Rogers Photobucket slant than changing this site to a hot rod site with photos utilizing todays digital tech-------
So with this, I am probably saying Good Bye altho I may check back as I wean myself away from here and get back into the shop ----------

While I can't / won't say you won't be missed.. obviously you will, it is your decision to make.
If this is because of pictures and your difficulty with re-sizing, I must say I'm amazed that someone bright enough to fly airliners, build / operate / maintain dragsters and funny cars / pro stocks but then struggles with the concepts of making a picture digitally smaller.!.!.! And then blames the site for a "failure"..
Every site on the web has some restriction on picture sizes. There is only so much bandwidth and again, if you were to load huge pictures, I would have to stop opening any thread that I knew you posted pictures in as my internet isn't that fast and I could grow a beard waiting for your huge pictures to load.
SO with that... SO long!

Sorry to hear your leaving. You post some interesting info and sometimes a guy has to let it simmer a little until it soaks in. You are a car guy and it isn't hard to figure that out. It is easy on forums to misunderstand a guys intent. Good luck man maybe run into you at the digs sometime.

I must admit I don't spend as much time here as I would like to, mainly because I find the site much slower and difficult to get around than the others I frequent (all which also use V8 Bulletin ), but the people here seem great, maybe i'm missing something ???
.Its aweful lonesome in the saddle since my horse died.

I'm dang near computer illiterate, but don't have problems resizing pictures to put on here.... Heck, I don't even understand why larger pictures would be an advantage.....
I do have to agree on some of the other stuff..... Posts are down, but put-downs are up!!! This used to be a forum where people posted their ideas and opinions on Hot Rod related issues, now it seems that people want to be an "expert" on things and if others have a differing opinion then the arguments start! I've expressed my opinion on "experts" before but if you missed it, Experts built the Titanic, Amateurs built the arc! Experience is great, tell us about it but on some posts it seems to come down to "If you don't do it my way, you're an idiot". Personally I don't feel that's a good way to handle questions, especially from newbies! Not everyone wants (or needs) pieces built to race specs, some are happy with good enough to get by on and don't appreciate the insinuations that if you don't get these parts and don't build it to these specs then you're an idiot. If you're building an all out race car, or going for the Riddler award all that stuff is great but the majority of folks on this forum are just putting together a driver that they can enjoy! It's also my opinion that others get the idea that if they're not some self-proclaimed expert, then their opinion isn't worth posting so they just read what others have written and sit on the sidelines and avoid doing any posts!
It would seem to me that if there were more posts saying "I'd suggest......" or "I had this work for me....." that this forum could go back to being a fun place to hang out and post and less some sort of contest to determine the best debater... JMHO
We'll miss you Jerry! Others have taken a break and came back, hope you're on that list.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I just returned from a self induced hiatus of about a year. Like everything it's good to get away for awhile and recharge the battery's. I have a forum of my own and have had a few others over the years. There are a lot of factors that make up a forums activity level. Things like the economy, if its not so good the forums tend to follow in the activity level. If folks don't have the money to play with and buy new toys they tend not to ask questions and post up pic's like they do in the better times. While I do understand your desire to load up quantities of high quality pic's on the forums they just aren't made to do that. I look at the forum as a replacement for the news paper. The goal is to get the point across with an occasional pic to help us visual types understand what the story line is, then move on to the next story. It is not intended to be a Coffee table book with lots of high quality glossy pics. I to dislike the process of down sizing pics. For me its a major pain in the ass as my computer is ultra slow at the shop. For some reason Photobucket hates me at work! All this to say hang tough and do what you must but I for one enjoy your virtual company here, pictures or not... If you must, take a brake and hurry back my friend! Don't forget "Change is Opportunity" Hope to hear a lot more from you in the future. Maybe down size just one trailer Pic?Last edited by M.T.; 04-20-2014 at 10:41 AM.

Jerry i hate to see you go even though i've not been on this site long enough to really get to know you... Sorry about the head banging on the wall when you can't post pictures but i want to post some on here but found they were too big, but found out that i just had to change the setting on the camera.. now that does not help the ones i've already taken that i can't post or resize..
And as for sharing info and people not listening, like my dad use to say "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" If someone ask a question and you have a good answer or something that's worked for you put it down.. it may not work for that guy but who knows how many hundreds of guys who read this site and just one of those guys might be looking for that quote from you to make his day...
You do have a lot of irons in the fire, and it's not always easy to get them all done as fast as you like...You don't know what it is to love a car until you build one.
