Any one have a good home brew skunk repellent recipe?
Noticed my shop had the unmistakable odor of skunk this morning. Around noon the Labrador went nuts and wanted to get into the side yard in the worst way. Being this is totally out of character for her I decided to check it out. I snick back and see 3 little skunks going down a hole under a pile of pallets. I'm not anxious to trap them, and I sure don't want to agitate them in anyway, But I wouldn't mind playing their own game on them and sending them down the road with some type of perfume they dislike. Any ideas?Bob, Bob, & Bob

A 4'x4' plate of 3/8" steel plate over the hole... then put the pile of pallets back on top.

I know of no home remedy "repellent" for skunks, but I do have a home remedy when the dog gets sprayed. Mr Google says this - https://www.critter-repellent.com/sk...FUQF7AodgjoARg , and this one has some really good tips on how to deal with them if you're in town.... http://www.urbanwildliferescue.org/humane/skunks.htm I shoot them.Last edited by rspears; 04-22-2014 at 06:38 AM.

So sprinkle the M/balls around where you don't want the pole cats to go? Pour a box down the hole? Or? Not even sure where to find M/ball? been 40 years since I even remember seeing them... Heck they might not even be allowed in California anymore, they have to be a carcinogen or something?Bob, Bob, & Bob

Pour them down the hole. Home Depot and Walmart carry them here, but California is a whole different ball game. Although I know of many 2 legged skunks, there and elsewhere I'd like to see if they would work on, but we won't get into that.Ken Thomas

I'd wait until you know the skunks are out of the burrow, or they might retaliate against the "attack" and you'll have a lot more than a hint of skunk odor....Roger

Fifteen to twenty five feet is what I've seen. If they're walking away and stop, facing you and stamp their front paws up & down that's the sign of impending spray.Roger

I started looking through what I have at the shop. I found a bottle of Tabasco sauce, black pepper, oat meal, and some freeze dried diced onions. I added all the ingredients and made a very obnoxious cocktail with oat meal cosistancy... I threw it in the microwave for a few minutes and off I went. I had enough where a good portion went down the hole and the rest around the pallets. I checked out there several times last night before leaving and this morning, there is no sign of them anywhere! The dog doesn't even act like they are back there any longer so who knows? Fingers are crossed that it worked. Think I will rake up today and see if any new foot prints appear tonight... Thanks for the help here folks. It is appreciated.Bob, Bob, & Bob
