Indy 500
I haven’t really followed the Indy 500 for many many years, but this morning I was watching the news and saw a few seconds of footage from the finish of this years race. I got to thinking of the cars that made an impression on me when I really looked forward to the Memorial Day race every year. I figured I’d go ahead and throw up some pictures of my favorite cars.
I still remember the Offenhauser powered cars that dominated thru the 50 and early 60s which I always thought were so beautiful.
and I was blown away with the Lotus that won in 65 (even had a slot car of that one when I was a kid)
And then there was the STP Turbine car that came soooo close to winning in 67…..that caused quite an uproar as I remember.
Anyway I hope everybody’s having a good holiday.
.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Worked most of the day, caught the highlights of the race....I'm old, still think they quit being Indy cars when they quit being front engine roadsters!!!! Anyway, they don't ask me my opinion of the rules for Indy cars so I guess I'll watch what they race anyway!!!! Good race, Kurt Busch came in 6th, went to Concord to run the 600 and blew up with about 100 miles or so to go!!! What a stud! 900 racing miles in one day!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I used to be keen to be in front of the tube to see the race every year, but in the past few years I don't even know who won and don't care. All the names that I knew from my youth have moved on or passed away and I don't know anybody anymore.

Thanks Mike P., seems we all had the same influences... I was enamored with the Lotus cars and had to have one for my HO slot car track! Took me a lot of newspaper deliveries to save the coin for it too! LOL..
Thanks for the smiles!
