So what exactly is a Doctors cab model T...
I keep hearing about a Model T doctors coupe body style for sale close by and for the life of me I keep getting different descriptions as to what one is? Is there a difference between a Doctor coupe and a standard coupe? If so what is the difference? I could do some Google searching and probably figure it out, or just ask you Model T gurus here. Thanks for any help you may have.Bob, Bob, & Bob

Unless it's currently owned by a doctor, or documented to have been previously owned by a doctor it's simply a coupe, from the AACA KC chapter, and also from the Model T Ford Club - International Model T Ford Club International User Forum: 1924 doctors coupe The term "doctor's coupe" was a marketing ploy, apparently because lots of doctors liked the T for its reliability, and the coupe for all weather use and folks liked the idea of having a car "like doc drives."Roger

Well there ya go... no wonder it didnt look any different to me. Wonder what these guys think it is?
After a quick search myself I found these 2 that sound reasonable.
#1. Doctor's coupe ------- Black
Dentist's coupe ------ White
Hemotologist's coupe - Red
Proctologist's coupe -- Brown
With tongue firmly in cheek, Bill
#2. The "Coupe" model of a Model T, which is an enclosed car with one seat and a trunk, was very popular with country doctors for several reasons, some of which are:
-- It's a Ford, which meant Doc could usually get where he was going.
-- It's enclosed, because Doc had to be available in all weather.
-- It has a trunk, so Doc could carry extra equipment that wouldn't fit in his little black bag.
So, over the years, the sheer number of doctors who drove Model T Coupes made it a commonly-known designation. That's all there is to it.
But, interestingly, if today you see an advertisement for a "Model T Doctor's Coupe," no further explanation of its body type is necessary. So I guess it has a reason to keep being used.Last edited by M.T.; 09-24-2014 at 02:47 PM.

The story I heard was Ford offered a small discount to Doctors, and the coupe was the most popular among Doctors, thus the Doctor's coupe was phrased by the sales staff back in the day.
