Digital cameras that you can change the pic size before uploading?
I don't really stay up with the latest and greatest of all the new gadgets. Do any of you know if there are decent digital cameras out now that you can set or change the pic size before uploading them to a computer? I sure am tired of paying and waiting on my PB account.Ryan

Ryan, I think all of the digital cameras out there can be set to record the image at different resolutions before shooting. I don't know of any that have the ability to shoot at high resolution, then reduce the file size on the camera but there may be some out there. I believe that's a feature of the computer software. If I shoot high res I upload to my laptop, then in the Windows Live Photo Gallery I enter the edit mode, select all of the photos as a large group and resize them all at one time. It saves a new, reduced image along with the originals, all in the same folder. I normally use a smaller point & shoot camera for car shows, and I keep it set on 4:3 VGA mode, which is for e-mail attachments, etc. Those will upload directly without any reduction needed.Last edited by rspears; 09-26-2014 at 02:38 PM.

As stated above it's better to shoot at a higher res. & use software to batch reduce them after they're loaded on the computer. If you shoot small, small is all you'll ever have. Then if you have a favorite photo you'd like a larger print of, you're out of luck."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

Thanks for the help guys and gal. I've noticed my galaxy S3 is taking worse and worse pictures, so I'm going to start using a camera like I used to. This phone is the first one I've ever made it through a contract with so I can actually say maybe it is wore out. Usually I have them broke or lost before the 6mo mark. HahaRyan

I'm still on my Galaxy S2! You might look at cleaning the camera lens with a nice soft cloth (no shop rags!) and see if that helps your picture quality. I expect that your phone resides in your pocket and gets pulled out with dirty hands most of the time, just like mine? Or just get a new S5?Roger

I remain on my soap box that I'd like to see this site change so we can post the larger pics----------I use the camera I have to get detail, and detail is what I want to post ---not downsized, not photo bucket(filled that up pretty quick)

Guess it just depends on what you get use to. Ive never seen a camera that doesn't have the option of different resolution, which in reality is the number of pixels which equals size. I have been using photobuket for years and find myself loading the pics up there so I have a back up. On Photobucket you can edit your pics easily to resize. Sorry not much help on the camera end. I wanted something fairly easy and small so I could throw it in my dual sport back pack and abuse it on the trails. I ended up with a Casio EX-Z model and love it. I'm not even sure they are still available being Ive had this thing for so long.Bob, Bob, & Bob
