My other Shop Rat
I know most of you know my oldest grandson Cade who has been following me out to the shop for several years now. It seems his younger brother Austin (he’ll be 4 in a couple of weeks) has been spending more and more time out in the shop with me and has informed me he should have his own tool box like his older brother.
The other day I decided to put some clips I have of him together, and thought some of you might get a kick out of seeing it.

I have to keep a bit closer eye on this one, he’s not afraid of anything but on the bright side he listens well. And yes he’ll probably get a starter tool box at Christmas to see how well he does with it.

Well, Mike, you have gotten me into a bad mood. My only grandson (now age seven) would have made me a very excellent shop rat. He's sharp, really curious, and loves to "help" but our son is career Coast Guard and has relocated four times since he came roaring into my life .......... and the family is packing again as we speak.
I don't suppose you would consider renting Cade out occasionally to a reasonably sane old goat in Texas?

Well done and very entertaining Vid there, Mike. Cade has definitely got the desire and appears to catch on quick. To me, your key words were "HE LISTENS" - - - - I've got one that's 17 and he can out work a young Mule BUT HE DOESN"T LISTEN - - - - he thinks he already knows it all - - - - therefore he doesn't work with or for me any longer. When it's my project and I'm footing the bill then you do it MY WAY ! OH well, maybe he'll turn around one of these days and we can once again work together.

Jim, I have come to realize that I am truly blessed having my grandkids around so often.
“…..he thinks he already knows it all…..”
Yeller, I go thru that every once in a while with Cade (my oldest grandson ). I found the key is to let him occasionally try it his way and let him fight it for a while (and occasionally fail) before I step in and show him Grandpa ain’t so dumb. Austin, (the one in the video) will probably outgrow listening to Grandpa at some point too LOL.
“…….Ambitious little guy Mike, going to be a new career just watching him!!!!!....”
Ain’t that the truth Dave. I’ve tried to interest him in a smaller hammer from time to time, but he’s not having any part of it. I definitely make sure he sticks to the anvil and not body panels for now.
