Sorry to hear about your mom Bob, and hope the ear clears up soon.
My prediction for my weekend was about right "...Fun fun fun… ...."
I got an early start on Friday getting the valve covers off the HEMI in the Plymouth to see what parts I needed. Fortunately (?) turned out to be “ just” a collapsed lifter. Lifters sets for this are up to $100 now. As I have another lifter that occasionally bleeds down I figured I might as well do them all now (luckily I had all the gaskets I need on the shelf).
Of course to get to the lifters I had to drain the coolant (valve cover bolts go into the water jacket), remove the master cylinder, remove the AC compressor, remove the firewall mounted heater plenum and blower, pull the intake and finally remove the valley cover. Then I got to fight getting the wrenches into the adjustable pushrods.
After getting that done Saturday morning it was into town to pick up a few parts. After I got home I realized if forgot to get parts cleaner and paint so turn around and back into town. When I got home I pulled the El Camino into the car port by the shop, shift it into park…….and the shift cable broke!!!!! Of course it does it now when the 2 bays in the shop are plugged up with vehicles that can’t move. It doesn’t really matter I guess, the new cable won’t be in until Tuesday or Wednesday anyway. Fortunately the collar on the steering column is connected (so the backup lights and sifter interlock both work) so I can still drive the truck and shift it by rotating the collar.
On the bright side Grandma and I got to babysit 2 of the 3 Grandkids last night and it’s hard for me to stay grumpy with them around.

Drove to the Car Show and back - - - trouble free, However:
I "OBVIOUSLY NEED" to flush my Radiator,, which I will do next week, here is what it did yesterday from the house to Wolf Creek Park and back which was approx 120 miles round trip.
The Red Line is where the "rusty" fluid was in the puke bucket when I got home and the blue line is where it was this morning after cooling all night long. NOTICE: it never ran hot yesterday and was a pretty constant 195/205.
When I emptied the overflow jug, it measured 3 cups and when i added the fluid back it just barely covered the top of the coils looking into the fill hole.
Any suggestions on what to do other than flush, add new coolant and continue the process?

It was a good weekend just not long enough. I didn't drive off any field entrances with the semi, as I am not a pro semi driver, We did get to take the kids to the trick or treat thing last night. We had to wait for some friends so they had to wait about an hour for them to get there. All of them did very well for being 3 and younger and having to wait. I'll post some pics later.Ryan

yeah, M.T. those pics brings to mind some great times when my kids and g-babies were small and so much fun. Maybe I'll get a shot at spoiling a great grand kid or two but I'm not in any hurry because my g-kids need to go ahead with their education and growing up process first. "I'll Wait Right Here"

Years ago before I left California I decided to flush the radiator in my 57. Got a lot of junk out of the radiator and I got more when I back flushed the block. There should be a pipe plug on either side of the block and I screwed a water hose into them one at a time and dropped the lower radiator hose and let the water run until it came out clean.Ken Thomas
