No Freaken way, it ain't happening.
The wife tried to talk me in to buying a 5th wheel trailer to night and I said NO!!! She got a SS Camaro and that would take away restoration fund that I need to finish my project cars, that will be sold when I am done anyway. If I don't have that fund I will never get those projects done to sell. Then I would have to sit on those cars for years and never have the money finish the home stead projects. Some times you just have to put your foot down. Right.

You know, I felt the same way a few years ago, but life has a way of revealing twists and turns that you don't expect. I had all the toys, all the tools and plenty of money to work on anything I wanted. More stuff, more money, more stuff, more money. Well, things have changed radically for me. I'm now divorced, living alone and happier than I have ever been in my life. I sold off all my tools and projects and never looked back. I have come to realize that all that stuff makes you a slave to it......and that just ain't right. Simpler is better. Take the wife out somewhere quiet, have dinner and talk. Find out what's on her mind. You might like it.

Here's the thing I am disabled and on a fixed income, in would tie up almost every cent I get every month.
Then if there was a emergency there would be no extra money then on top of that, this thing is huge.
The guy was using a semi to pull it around, my pick up is not big enough to even pull the thing.
There for I would have to buy a big dually truck with a diesel motor in it just to pull it around.
That or the gas ain't in the budget, so really it would not make any seance to buy a trailer you can't pull.

Kurt, I would advise you to take a look at the bigger picture and stop thinkin' only of your damned self. You have your toys, but what does mama have to make her life more fun? She's trying to tell you something dude. Listen up. Maybe there's middle ground there somewhere, maybe she'd be happy with a smaller unit that a pickup could haul. I think she just wants to get out of town and see some different scenery, have some fun. She's either bored or fed-up or both the way I read it. I mean seriously, how much fun can a woman have in Pahrump? I'd like for you to go to youtube and listen to the lyrics in the song "Lucille" by Kenny Rogers, particularly these.....
"When the drinks finally hit her, she said I'm no quitter, but I finally quit livin' on dreams,.....I'm hungry for laughter and here ever after, Im after what ever the other life brings"
I love singin' that song at karaoke every Friday night at the American Legion and it just seems to me to be appropriate for you to hear.

Like me or don't Kurt, I'll always bare my mind.

Some damn excellent advice there Richard and just not for Kurt either. I too had a wonderful wife, home, toy out in the garage, two absolutely stunning incomes as we didn't have children and then I had a mid life crisis and my whole world came crashing down. I don't regret some of my decisions I made back then but there is some that haunt me still today. I learnt that one has to communicate openly and honestly with each other and us men need to be able to sit, shut our mouths and really listen to what our partners, bestfriends and wife's are trying to tell us. Otherwise one can end up a bit like me, a lonely old fool who's only real purpose in life is to take care of my Mum.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Some harsh words, Kurt, but they could well be on target much as you don't want them to be. Seems that maybe you need to talk through why your wife is interested in the trailer then take the time to calmly communicate that a trailer that size will mean a new truck and the cost of modifying it for the 5th wheel, plus the expense of towing something that big. Then maybe visit your local RV dealer to shop for smaller units that might work with what you have for pulling, just to feel out the market, and if one of those "fits" for her then start checking the used RV market. This is the time of year when a lot of people dump what they have for what they want, or those who bought new and never used the unit much finally decide it's time to part company with the money pit, at least in our colder climate. Another option would be to rent an RV for a few days, or a few long weekends and let her try one on to see if it works for her. If you've never owned one your wife may just be ripe for the adventure of travel, and thinking that an RV would be exciting and romantic vs alternatives for travel, or just wanting to get away once in a while, period. However you approach it, your emphatic "NO!!" is not a smart response in a healthy marriage, IMO.
Good luck with your problem. Hope you get it worked out the way you want it to be.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Apple's and oranges here:
I was looking at getting a DR product or two. Namely, a tow-behind tiller, and a tow behind leaf bagger. Well, I really have no where to store them, so I got thinking of building a large shed. Well, the spot needs built up, and here is where the story falls into place. The slope was greater than I thought, and is going to cost at least double what I wanted to spend.
Got me thinking. That's a whole LOT of expense just to till my own little garden, and take a few less passes with the mower in the fall.
Moral of the story: you could rent a nice fancy camper, pay for fuel, and be ahead on the deal.
As for me, paying $100 for getting the garden rolled makes more sense than to spend thousands just to do the job myself.Last edited by firebird77clone; 11-23-2014 at 02:31 AM.

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Till the garden, not roll it. Tried to edit it out, but couldn't..

Ya maybe you guys are right I'll tell her to trade in her Suburban her SS Camaro and her pristine 07 Mustang GT with only 12,000 miles on it then we will go get her trailer.
I am keeping my 08 Dodge Hemi which is the only thing I am keeping, all of my other rods are up for sale as soon as they are painted.
I guess she could also sell one of our 2 homes, but then she would be giving up her monthly income from the renters.
She has more toys then I do, and hers are run and could be in car shows they are so clean.
I bought as investments with Idea of getting a future income from their sale.
She goes to shows all the time in Vegas and her and her brother go to Vegas and play.
She's got plenty of fun time and at 60.
