Remember when CHR was about Hot Rods????
Seems way too many threads on here end up with someone adding there input to it that somehow becomes either political or religious.... Come on guys, lots of sites all over the net to post your views on those subjects, why the heck can't a Hot Rod forum be about Hot Rods???
Another pet peeve is the "lurkers" who don't seem to have the interest or time to offer encouragement or helpful advice when someone asks a question, but are the first to post whenever they see an opportunity to slam someone for their beliefs, or encourage someone to leave the site because of some perceived unfair treatment???
When CHR was a successful site, we had lots of active members who shared their enthusiasm for the world of Hot Rodding, and left the other bs to sites dealing with those issues... Case in point, a new guy signs up, might get two welcome posts.....then somebody puts up a post about art, it becomes inundated with posts about politics and religion, and everyone has to jump on it like someone is calling your mother names!!!!
Personally, I think it's all bs, and CHR should go back to being about Hot Rods and just leave all the personal agenda's concerning politics and religion to some site where it is relevant!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

So says someone who has over 10,000 views and 234 replies to his "Some prayers, please" thread. Beautiful little girls and a great job rescuing them, but definitely not "Hot Rods."
I certainly don't think that thread was BS, do you?

I must admit I was surprised to see this thread closed. I saw no evidence of "hot heads" or anger in the two replies made before the closing. As for myself, I was merely pointing out that I found it rather ironic and humorous that Dave would complain about content other than hot rods when he himself was the author of one of the most popular threads on here, the saga of his little grand-daughters. Not a complaint, not anger, just an observation.
I fully agree with his complaint about religion and politics, but those subjects are expressly prohibited by the forum rules. It is the job of the moderator to remove such posts and/or the poster if they become a problem, but the lounge was designed to "shoot the breeze about all the non Hot Rod stuff..." That should include allowing Dave or anyone else to complain if they see something worth complaining about. (Within the forum rules.)

I feel this place only has around 8-10 normal posters. Kind of sad when you see how many people are logged in and no one can reply or help people. You want some new activity, look into some of these threads where you haven't already, or normally wouldn't. Plus, if no one will help some of these new people without making them feel lilk they're not welcome within their first 10 posts, this place WON'T grow! I get most of you guys have been around the block, been there and done that. You probably get tired of answering the same old questions. There are a lot of people out there that don't really know how to navigate forums, and this one isn't really a familiar format compared to others. A little help and encouragement can go a long way. I like looking through others' builds when I have the spare time to see how others have accomplished certain ideas. (None lately) There are quite a few over the top builds being built here in garages, let a lone shops, and that is pretty awesome!Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 12-16-2014 at 12:42 PM.

I think the economy and and builds is still slow. In my case it's a toss between working on truck and taking care of other stuff. I keep posting on little stuff and other builds to keep in touch with folks here, but winter is a hard time to work on cars and trucks, unless you have a shop equiped for this. Still a great site with lots of knowledgeable folks. When I get my truck back, I'll start up that build thread again." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

I haven't been doing a lot on the roadster with the extended trip down south and now with weather getting colder, but to be honest I'm much more hesitant to post details of day to day shop activities on a build any longer.Last edited by rspears; 12-16-2014 at 02:11 PM.

Yep. it's been so slow at my house that finally after 21yrs that Marge may finally leave the garage once again under its own power this coming spring. Found someone locally to put it together for me that came highly recommended that does welding on Military Jets. But I did spend 4hrs at the bone yard & felt like a truck hit me when I was done. The yard is completely concreted & I was able to get a pair of great looking bucket seat w/built in seat belts for the amazing sum of $65 :-) ...joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Yes, it does seem like the Hotrod Lounge would be a good place to discuss things that may or may not be "hotrod" related, cause let's face it, we are all made up of more than the sum of vehicles we have in our garage! I'm touched when you guys share the highs & lows of your lives because it lets each of us get to know you a little better beyond your vehicular aptitude, but because it is a "HotRod" forum, I definitely like to keep up with the progress on your cars/trucks.
As for me, I'm 7 years into the rebuild of my '37 Ford. It's been on hold for the last year or so due to lack of time and money, but also because of the neighbor's complaints about the noise I make when cutting & grinding. Ironically, the biggest complainer asked me the other day when I was going to get back to work on the '37.....he's anxious to see it running again..... Ha! I should have asked if he's going to shut up about the necessessary noise required to proceed....."It is not much good thinking of a thing unless you think it out." - H.G. Wells

I enjoy the people as much as the cars----where they came from, what they did when younger, middle, older-----where they are now and why-I love the USA and the highways that take us from place to place--would love to see all the national parks, etc--
The art work in the minds of the people who are building the stuff----------if I can help with anything I'm honored to be able to------
I'm really having concerns for where this country is going because it seems like the young'uns don't know , don't care, ---------------
And the world is on the brink of something that is going to be big and we need to have something in our hands that takes a light finger but not to text-----
And I wish this site would catch up with the cameras that every body has------

Took my '62 into a transmission auto shop that works on everything including old tin and hot rods. When I left it and got back to the house they called me and asked if I could come back up there and take a look at something. GULP I asked them if they couldn't ask me on the phone and he said "No they want to show you personally" GULP GULP Well, I got in the Yota and headed for the shop which is about 30 minutes that time of day. Do you have any idea how many possibilities can run rampant thru your mind in that length of time? hahahahaha Got to the shop and went over to where that had it up on the lift and he started showing me things that shouldn't have surprised me because I had seen the type of Ffffffffabrication and alteration that the "Barrio Bros" (nothing personal OK?) had done under the hood with the carb, radiator cooler, spark plug wires and HEI.
Well he began to show me that the shift cable had been allowed to lie against the drive shaft and was headed towards being rubbed into. There was no kickdown cable but I already knew that from installing the new 2 barrel and really didn't care. The emergency brake wasn't connected (no big deal) but was just dangling down ready to hang on the first limb I drove over. There was ?rear end grease? (don't know what W) being slung all over the backs of the rear brake drums and bottom of gas tank. We also noticed a slight groove starting in one front rotor. Last but by no means least was the cross member under the transmission that was just barely hanging on (he said he could fab something to fix that and get some rubber between the metal pieces also. SIGH
So after saying all of that I told him to drop the tran pan and if it wasn't full of trash to just service it and fix the small leak at the speedo cable, tie the shift cable over so that it doesn't rub, fix the cross member mount and call me when it's done. I'll address the rear end leak and slight rotor groove later.
At my age, it's doubtful that I will own ANOTHER OLD ONE after I'm thru playing with this Fairlane but if I was stupid enuff to do it again, IT WILL LOOK AT IT FROM UNDER NEATH ON A LIFT BEFORE I PURCHASE IT OR I WON'T LOOK AT IT AT ALL. didn't mean to shout - - - sorry
Soooo depending on what else they find, I may or may not go to Bryan/College Station to Lucky's Chicken Oil Co. Rod Run on Jan 11th of next month.
Happy Motoring Y'all,
Em.
