Someone, or maybe it's something, just had a birthday.......
That would be this site, 14 years this week.
I'll spare the editorial commentary about recent self inflicted wounds as it's been said aplenty (and there's not much profit in dwelling on the negative), but back in the beginning we spent considerable effort to draw membership. A handful of stalwarts, now mostly gone on to other endeavors, wrote articles, greeted newbs, encouraged participation, and did all the things to help a fledgling site grow..............and it worked. Granted, at the time the WWW was relatively new and by comparison to today there were fewer "places" for folks to go for their venture into cyber community. There was no facebook, twitter, pinterest, and so on, so folks who stumbled through the door had fewer distractions to lure them elsewhere. Some of those early joiners have passed on to their reward, others lost interest or engaged in intramural battles that damaged personal feelings causing them to drift away. A small handful (3-5 maybe) are still present to one degree or other, but what has remained is a small but valuable crowd of supporters who seem to tough it out despite the considerable disincentives. I value you all and consider you friends..................and am glad to have earned your acquaintance. Rock on....................Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 04-05-2015 at 08:49 PM.

Crikey!
I had to go back to my profile to check when I joined...and I've been on here ten years next month!
Doesn't seem that long; and there's not many posts considering how long its been.
But I've certainly enjoyed being a member; and have certainly learned a lot by being a member.
There's a camaraderie on this site that is noticeably absent on some other sites.
So a big thank-you to all who were involved in getting this particular ball rolling fifteen years ago!
It has been much appreciated by this Kiwi!

it's not just here bob. same thing on many sites i've been a part of . a couple of sites i just could not stand the google experts trolling through and staying.
some just slowed down because folks drifted in different directions. plus i think the net was new and exciting for some then got a little boring i guess. i still check in and will help when i can. my site is the same. lot of folks registering but not posting .

As you know, so this is just more trivia for any who might be interested, the first folks to populate here were almost entirely cross overs from Club Cobra, so not surprising that most of them wouldn't stick. To my memory, you, me, and Brent are the only ones to still post from those first few days, but I'd hate to miss someone that I'm unaware of.
And Em...........Grandpaw is an appropriate term for old folks like you, not a kid like me..............Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Looks like I'm on the ten year mark too. Amazing.
Thanks for all the help. I love this site..

As a new guy it's nice to find a site where different styles of builds are welcome.
