Our first house
I haven't really taken the time to post pics and info of our new to us house. We moved in the last weekend in April and have been doing work on it and trying to make it ours. I have been installing a fence to keep the kids and dogs in our yard too. The house was built in 1914, is a 3 bed room with a pretty big attic, and a nice basement. I plan on making a man cave area down there at some point. The house has newer wiring with grounded outlets, central air, which is new, newer furnace and water heater. It is in town, and has a double lot which is .38 acres. We really wanted an acerage, but couldn't find one in our price range. This was the best thing we could find in our price range that had a big yard, big house, and a garage. The garage is a 28'x30' and is fully insulated. It had heavy wiring ran to it and has natural gas ran to it for a reasnor type furnace already. So far my Dad came over and helped me wire in my 220, I purchased a new IR 5hp 60 gallon air compressor so I can keep the one at my shop at my parent's so that is still a functioning shop, we got a better lawn mower, and it's been busy, busy.Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 06-29-2015 at 03:50 PM.

My original plans were to buy a car port and put it in front of the garage. Well, the wife would like to keep that for the kids to play on. So, I will put gravel and a car port behind the garage. The wife will have to park her Excursion back there, and then I can park one truck in there too. I am trying to keep the garage open for working on my/our stuff only. Eventually I have to install a taller door because this one is too short. I can't get the excursion in here if I'd like to. My 72 won't fit unless you dump the air out of the rear suspension.
Last week while I was on vacation, one thing I had to do was clean some of the stuff out of the garage we put in there to save time when we moved in. We had to get the enclosed trailer back to my Snap-on guy, so we just put all the stuff that belonged in the basement, in the garage. I got most of it out, but need to finish that at some point. I also need to get a shed to put the lawn mower in as well as the lawn tools/toys. I still have to finish running the conduint for the air compressor wiring, and mount it when the mounting kit arrives.Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 06-29-2015 at 03:14 PM.

Here is some painting we've been doing in the dining room. We still have to go get some more hutches to put in there that my Aunt gave me a few years ago. The deal was, we couldn't have them until we got our first house. They were my dirt bag uncle's aunt's hutches. My aunt wants them gone because they remind them of my dirt bag uncle, whom is gone back to Virginia. (That's a whole other story) Then we can finish unpacking. My wife got into chalk painting so she has repainted our dining room tables and chairs to get a rustic look we like. Plus it saves money over buying new stuff right now. She's almost done with our kitchen, which was a hideous white with red trim. Pics on that later.
Here are some pics of the inside of the house. The third picture is the front entry way. The fourth and fifth are of the living room.Ryan

Pic 5 Behind garage.
The sand box there is getting axed. I'm not sure we'll keep it because it is a cat bathroom......
The house is in really good shape. I have some window work to do which may consist of repalcing one here and there as I can. I have to redo the seating on the deck, and we'd like to make the attic a play area for the kids before winter. That may wait until next year. I'll get more pics up later of the kitchen, basement, and the down stairs bathroom.Ryan

A very nice family home for you Ryan and I am envious of the garage space as I only have a single car garage made of tin and certainly not lined like yours. I do like the trees around the property too especially the big one by the driveway. I'm sure in no time you and your lovely wife will have the place all sorted and real homely. Reminds me of a saying I heard once, a house is made of timber and building products, a home is made of love, laughter, occasionally even tears, yes a home is for family to enjoy and grow.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Thanks guys! It's been a long time coming. We were in a two bedroom duplex previously. Talk about cramped for space the last couple of years.Ryan

Ironically, my financial situation is swinging to the opposite and Chris and I are were just offered a house on the family farm. If it happens I'll follow your lead and share some info / pics. I think I'll title it.. "things that bring the hot rod project to a halt!" LOL..

I'm rooting for ya too! My wife really wanted a small acerage with an old farm house on it. I want an acerage with some buildings on it. Oh well, later on. I'm sorry to hear you're in that situation, but at least you have some options. Please do post those pics if you can make it happen, and good luck!Ryan

Thanks guys.. now back to Ryans house!
A man was watching his wife as she prepared to fry sausages in a pan. He noticed that before placing the sausages in the pan, she always cut off both ends, threw them away, and cooked only the middle...
