Remembering those who serve, those who served, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our continuing independence. Have a great 4th!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Yep, when I try to explain to the younguns that if it were not for the American and Allied servicemen who fought in WWII, we would have to stop every 2 blocks and show our papers to the Gestapo, they look at me like I have 2 heads.

Strange, that our schools and history books do not cover this better! If we do not remember and learn from the past, the past will become the present again..

Have a great weekend, and remember why we celebrate this day. Too many have no clue.

As we (old folks) celebrate our Independence from England and discuss how the newbies don't seem to have a clue--------

I was at a combined class reumion of our school district from its consolidation back in the 40s to the fifty year 1965 class (small farm country school) we had low 180 attendees (some were spouses . not honorees) the mc at one point had every one who had served in military stand-probably 1/3 of the folks stood to the applause of the others-----so if you assume that 1/3 was probably 2/3 of the guys? and many have passed----I want the next time for them ( well anyplace that they ask for military) to also have anyone who had a parent, child, brother, sister, spouse to stand also as a group to just get an idea of the depth of source of this country's citizens service, especially compared to where todays status is------soory, but having a hard time with this thought and can't find the keys thru the tears as I think of my brothers, brother in laws, nephews, uncles---I wore a 2nd inf division hat with a us flag stuck thru a vent hole into every store/place I've went over this long week end and only had 3 people say a single word about it------------

Every time I see a service man or woman, I reach out for a hand shake, tell them thank you , and wish them safe travels. When I see guys wearing veteran hats, have vet plates, etc, I do the same. I did not serve, but know plenty whom have and have seen the out come when they come back home. I try to do my part to make this country a better place for them.
