Congratulations to Charlie on the E5 rank, and to proud Mama for such a squared away young man! That's a Machinist's Mate rate badge, right?Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

More congratulations to Charlie on the promotion. The prop on the rate badge does signify Machinist's Mate. My Dad was a MM3 in WWII Pacific. My office was just a short walk from the submarine pens when I worked at NS Norfolk. I would have loved to see the commissioning. Fast Attack SSNs are awesome boats.Jack

Congratulations to both Barb & Charlie. I have a grandson serving on the nuclearpowered, fast attack class USS Seahawk (SSN 21) submarine, stationed in Bremerton, Wa.
He absolutely loves it!
Personally I 'm way too claustrophobic for sub duty and would need a window to hang my arm out of.

Ya' made me smile, Barb. Nice to see a young man with his ducks all in a row. Congratulations to you, Mom, and to MM2 Charlie.

I just watched the commissioning. The ceremony for "manning the ship and bringing her to life" brought a few tears to these old eyes. I still fly the Navy Jack below the Stars and Stripes day and night under lights, in remembrance of my father a WW II Navy vet.Last edited by Henry Rifle; 08-02-2015 at 03:37 PM.
