Steering
Last time out in my T bucket was down right scary. I had noticed the previous time before that the steering seemed a little sloppy, then this last time it was worse, all over the road. Got it home and checked the free play in the box, it was way out. Jacked the front wheels up and proceeded to adjust the box lash. Get it feeling pretty good, go to lock it down with the jam nut and nut doesn't tighten, it just pulls the adjuster out. The lash adjustment screw is stripped in the box side cover!
Should be an easy fix with a thread insert. Pull the box out, clean it up and put it on the bench. Take the cover off, drill, tap and install the insert. While waiting for the thread lock to set up on the insert, I pulled the rest of the box apart to check it for wear. Everything is in really good shape, bushings, bearings and gears show no wear. Put the the box back together adjust and lube it, it's ready to go. Re-install the box and give it a test drive, now that's better! Five dollar fix, that's the way I like it!

Five dollar fix but hours of greasy dirty finger nails and the fun of working on the Bucket, priceless. Safety is a must on these little quick carsI maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I don't count the labor as that's a work of love.. Seems like when I run out of projects, I run out fun. Luckily, something always wears or breaks, lol!
