What an odd world
Parents are in Afghanistan, skyping their kids daily while the children are being raised by their grandparents..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Are these Afghanistan native parents, or US soldiers? I'm guessing natives. I don't get how some people feel it's alright for their parents to raise their kids. Now, don't get me wrong, their are special circumstances and situations, but it seems like you hear it happening all the time. I can tell you my kids would be so spoiled if I left them at grandma and grandpa's for a month, it'd take 6 months to get them back to normal daily routines.Ryan

Sounds to me like both mom & dad are soldiers, and both got tagged for OUS duty at the same time which is not an unusual situation with today's reduced numbers of active duty personnel. I'd say that they are fortunate to have grandparents that are willing and able to step up and take the responsibility of being stand-in parents for the kiddos. Kudos to the parents for their service, and big time kudos to the grandparents too.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
