i remember when pinks all out started. one of his cronies was all over the net raving about how great it was going to be. he got all butt hurt because people did not swoon all over it . nobody would race for pink slips today. maybe in the 50's when you only had 50 bucks in the car .

if he flagged a race like that both drivers would stop and kick his ass . you leave when the flag goes up. actually you leave when they twitch

I kept the red flag in my left hand and pointed it at each driver to make sure they were ready. When they nodded they were ready I'd drop the red flag somewhat slowly and then jump up with the green flag that was in my right hand. As the cars left the line I'd turn with whoever left first so as not to get a blast of noise and smoke in my face and
hope like hell that the guy in the other lane didn't get too squirrelly. That also helped me from going deaf. Earplugs, we don't need no stinking earplugs.Ken Thomas

I think the whole hot rod show thing has a tough time relating to the guys that do it for fun or hobbies, kind of like Roger mentioning Norm Abrams, he did good work it appears but I ran a wood shop for 25+ years and he would have been the death of my shop, everything he did turned out fine but he went about it the hard way (wasting valuable time) by using a piece of equipment a true hobbiest would have, ex router table for doors instead of shapers. then turn around and use a tool costing upteen thousand to finish sand them??? Something a hobby shop would never have.
I have to think a hotrod shop would be the same deal, I can turn out decent work but I would be so slow for a professional shop as I would not be fast enough for the shop to make money, might be the reason they add the canned drama, things move quickly and smoothly most of the time? I am unsure but they sure aren't teaching us much but making a whole lot of guys not suitable to build cars say "Hey I can do that" and they buy a basket case and think they will be driving it in 6 weeks working on it part time and have a few hundred bucks in it, we seem 'em every summer....Why is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

I was hoping you'd save me that step... but....... sigh, no....
under edit I quote wikipedia
" The S. S. Minnow of the 1964–1967 television show Gilligan's Island was sarcastically named after him to express displeasure with his assessment of the quality of television."
Somehow that just seems fitting for a non elected politician! Now back on topic please!Last edited by 34_40; 03-01-2016 at 05:22 PM.

Rockin' Roadsters?? What a POS. Did anyone see a roadster in that show? An El Camino with shaved door handles and custom paint... and grocery carts? Wow. Be still my beating heart... I won't waste time setting my DVR for that crap again.Jim

I missed it but don't think I'll worry about trying to catch it now. I started watching billion dollar wreck and holly crap. They show maybe 5min of actual diving the rest is drama. There is a little interesting history info told. But really. Nothing is safe. HahaRyan
