Lake of the Ozarks area
This coming Saturday we are going back to the Lake of the Ozarks for vacation. I was curious if any of you knew of any good must see hot rod collections/museums/displays to go visit or tour, or if there might be any shows to go check out while down there? We'll be down there for a week. I didn't see anything when we were down there last year but we surely didn't see 1/8 of all the stuff around there.Ryan

Where are you going to be staying? My daughter is there this week, staying in a Vacation Rentals house on the lake in the Branson vicinity with 5 kids ranging 3, 5, 5, 12 and 14. She texted saying that there's so much to do with the kids they could easily do two weeks instead of one.... There's a couple of automobile events in the Branson area - https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...bits%20bransonRoger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

We're staying in a vacation house near Lori and Gravis Mills. I think it's about 1.5hrs north of Branson. We talked about going back to Branson but I'm not sure if we will get there or not. My wife and I have been there twice. The first time was a time share trap trip, and the second was our honey moon. There's definitely a lot of cool stuff there. You sure can blow a lot of money there too.Ryan

Your heading to my neck of the woods, the second friday of every month is the cruise at bagnell dam, as tech said you can't go wrong with Lucas Oil (why is it in the middle of nowhere, long story) you will be on the top side of the lake if your heading to Laurie though, Lucas is on the south side. Also there is a cruise in Versailles which is close to Laurie. The 12th of next month is the birthplace of route 66 car show & Festival in Springfield (Ill be there) http://www.route66festivalsgf.com/ There is always a cruise in Springfield, Steak & Shake on Glenstone south is a oldie & goody Its probably 1 1/2 hrs away though and Branson another 30-45 minutes. If you are heading down 7 hwy past Clinton I might be able to help, Raysiks Downtown Desoto is private but he might let you in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNmQspSW5rE Head onto our square in Clinton its worth seeing its the 4th largest in the US, also a couple private collections here I might be able to swing, all worth seeing. Why is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

The bugs were big last year there. But the deer were more of an issue. We saw several herds sleeping in lanes on the roads and in the ditches very close to the 2 lane roads. Craziness. 80% humidity, that's it? Ours is always stupid. At least there's water to play in and there won't be work to do. HahaRyan

I often ask myself that Roger, but I always have said, to get rich or go bust become a dentist in the lakes region of MO, everyone needs to see one but it appears nobody is going. Clearly Don must have attended the swap meet at Jacobs cave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRpwgVt7uDc it gets you up and close with hillbillys, Say what you want but we just had a contractor from Chicago say we have the friendliest and nicest people he has seen, we did send him however to see Jacobs cave swap meet on his way home, to say he was impressed was a understatement!Last edited by Matthyj; 07-27-2016 at 03:33 PM.
