    Memorial Day 2017

    Flag Sky (copy).jpg

Taking time today to honor those who served us all in years past and made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our many freedoms; those who are serving now, praying that they remain vigilant in their duties that they return home safely to their loved ones; and those who we loved who have left this earthly life, often far earlier than we would have chosen.

Hoping that you all enjoy a safe and enjoyable holiday today.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Today I got a hankering to get a beer collection, so I picked up about ten six packs of various brews. It makes the empty bachelor's fridge look happier.

Anyway, on the way home I pulled in to several businesses, put on my cover (VFW cap) and talked to the managers about their flags

Extreme Power sports has a ragged flag which was at full staff. No one was home, I'll call them tomorrow.

Stars and Strikes has too- large a flag on the pole, and at full staff. Great manager, he jumped right on it. Couldn't do a true half staff because the flag would touch the ground, but we lowered it some, and he says they'll get a bigger pole or smaller flag.

B Merrils jumped right on it, lowering their pole. (It is a telescopic design, uses water to raise, very interesting)

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Amen, we try to make sure we always attend our small town Memorial Day remembrance. A march of the color guard, local school marching band, and a pastor prays and gives a message at the cemetery. The Gettysburg Address is read , Taps played , just a real good reminder.

I hope you all had a safe Memorial Day! Thanks to all who are serving, have served, and that made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us to be able to do the things we love and live in this great country!
