The news is out..........
Or at least it will be after I post this.
I have been blessed with three beautiful daughters the oldest of which is a Registered Nurse serving with the Army and stationed in DC. This morning it became official, her name has been submitted to Congress for approval for promotion to the rank of Colonel. Upon approval she will be stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as head nurse of that command, I believe. She will also be within a couple hundred miles of, her nephew, my grandson who is stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina.
I plan, along with my grandson, to be at the promotion ceremony as I intend to pin on one of the eagles. I will post pictures when it happens.Ken Thomas

What an awesome thing to share! A blessing indeed - I too have three daughters - and you are so right to be proud of these women. Please pass on my sincerest congratulations to the "Colonel-to-be" and thanks for her service to this great country. She is an American hero in my book."Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

We're both pleased for her; and for you too. (Yep; I told the missus. And she too sends her best wishes.)
It will be a tremendously proud moment for you when you personally pin one of those eagles on.
I'm not an emotional bloke; but I'd wager good money if it was myself and my daughter involved in something this momentous I'd have a huge lump in my throat.
Congratulations to you both!johnboy

First time I have smiled today. I know you're a proud Daddy. My congratulations to the Colonel.

Just recently received word from my daughter that she has technically been a Colonel since Aug. 3rd and the promotion ceremony will be Sept 29th around 1 pm at Fort Belvoir, Va. That is her command base even though she works mostly in DC. I have already booked a flight to DC for the 28th and leave Sun Oct 1st. I will take pictures or somebody will with my camera.Ken Thomas
