I have a couple nagant rifles and 1 revolver. One of the rifles is sportorized with different stalk and a scope. I love that gun and use it for high power deer season when it's available. I had a M16 but ditched it after I got my AR.

Roger, on the .17HMR. The best thing about it IMO is the ammo is easy to get compared to .22. Around here .22 is hard to come by even still because everyone buys it as soon as it hits the shelf. I have 0 .22s right now. My brother has a .17hmr and that thing is a tack driver. I've been saving to get a Kimber 1911 but other things keep eating the cool stuff funds.

Personally I'm not big on scopes unless you're a sniper, if you can't hit it with iron sights stay on the porch.

The first deer I shot was with my old mosin and iron sights and it was 350 yards out. I really like the elevator on them. I like long range shooting and like to use both, but a scope is dang nice. To each his own.

2 years ago I shot a deer with a .460 casull hand gun. I wish I owned that gun but it is a friend's. It's a sweet piece. That was the first year hand guns were allowed to hunt deer in Iowa.

Well Jerry, I can save the USA tax paying public a heap, there is only need for one brain transplant and it will be easy, remove blonde coloured rug and drill the smallest hole one can and suck the debris out and one would increase the intelligence of that person 100 fold. I can't understand what is so different in those people, I believe they still have two arms, two legs, a brain, two eyes, no, I think they are just normal human beings struggling within their own brain to be accepted as human beings.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

i like a scope but most of the time i'm shooting at a moving target. hog or coyote . i tend to loose them in the scope. have a nice one on the 30.06 for long shot. but the 223 will run right up their behind in 30 rounds.

That's pretty decent shooting. I've never been comfortable with a scope though I understand why the deer hunters use them.
The bull at the 500 yard line when I was in boot camp in 61 was 10" if memory serves me correctly and at 500 yards it looks like a pencil dot, at least to me anyway. I qualified expert in boot camp with an M1 but a couple of years later the best I could do was marksman with an M14.

Wow, a subject I can comment on for a change - and comment is about all I'm gonna do; no need to advertise too loudly. I've been shooting and collecting since I was ten years old, competitively in one discipline or another for over thirty years, now retired. Got a bunch of lever actions, many of them antiques, a bunch of shotguns, same scenario, some bolt rifles, some semi auto rifles, many pistolvers, and some that load themselves after the first shot; but one thing I never got around to getting for my safe is a "black rifle". Always within reach are a 1911 of one pattern or another, and my favorite old 1897 Winchester short barreled shotgun.

Sure would like to see pics of the Shotgun! I've got my grandfathers Model 1898 Winchester 12 gauge...I remember hunting with it as a kid and a guy literally running across the field asking me if I wanted to sell it!..lol
I thought I knew a lot, until I had teenagers!

Rumbler, just curious if one of your levers is a 1910 Stevens model 425. I have one that was my grandfathers and I think his father in laws before that.
