I find myself envious of all the handgun talk. Here in Canada, we are very restricted in the ownership and use of handguns. A special (ie. difficult to obtain) licence is needed and you can only (legally) transport a handgun between your home and a licenced shooting range unless you are a LEO.
When I was young my dad owned a (highly illegal) 38 S&W revolver that I was able to do quite a bit of shooting with. I got to be relatively good with it, but now my shooting is restricted to rifles and shotguns.Remember, Freedom isn't Free, thousands have paid the price so you can enjoy what you have today.

I was going to say that I sympathize with you, but I really don't. There should be enough good folks up there in God's country to kick out the liberals and restore some common sense and adopt a 2nd amendment such as ours. The difference between a citizen and a subject is gun control and it's not about guns but it is about control.Ken Thomas

Unfortunately the larger cities are predominately liberal and have control of both our provincial and federal governments. Our previous Conservative government was able to reverse the draconian gun registration laws that a previous Liberal federal government had passed but getting a "2nd Amendment" type of law would be almost impossible in this country given the strength of the Liberals here. Sad but true. Their idea of gun control is gun elimination.

Sorry, I don't think I have any pictures of the '97, don't know why, as I have most of my stuff cataloged for insurance purposes. But, I can say it is no showpiece: most of the finish is completely worn off, the wood is beat up and basically "raw", the buttstock has a repair to the wrist that could have made that part useles, it is oiled, but that is just a function of the upkeep. I bought it pretty much that way, and paid a pittance for it; I was looking for a project, or a least, a spare parts source, and this thing fit the bill nicely. But after giving it a good once over, I decide to shoot it and see how well it worked; wow! It rattles when you shake it, and running the slide is more of a clank sound that the usual click-clack of a new gun, but in battery, it locks up solid, and shoots like a finely oiled watch. I can recall taking it to matches and having people look at it and just shake their heads, or suggest that maybe I ought to get a newer gun, but once I got it in action, they would, again, just shake their heads in amazement, and a few offered me crazy, exorbitant amounts of money if I'd sell it to them; but, no, we have a "thing" between us.
Jack, no Stevens 425. Got one Stevens lever action 22 Cal. single shot "Boys Rifle" that all of my kids and grands have learned to shoot with. From what I can find by poking at the internet, a 425 is quite similar to a Marlin 336. All of my antique lever guns are Winchesters of various model numbers, mostly '94 and '92.

This conversation as far as these guys ribbing you for your Country's laws, may not be taking place if the female got elected this past go around..................... Our country would have seen major gun control changes no doubt about it, and would be right on our way where the liberals want it to a gun free nation. I'm so glad it didn't go that way though.Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 08-01-2017 at 08:24 PM.

gun laws do not work, never have. the cities with the most strict gun laws lead in gun violence . guns dont kill people , low life thugs do .

Wellllllllll---------Chicago is to Illinois about the same as California is to the USA
We had friends in from Washington State over past weekend and made some trips into Chicago to museums, aquariums, Sears tower------and they commented about how many and size of huge cemetaries------I told them that it was where dead people rested because they got so tired after voting so many times and places during the electionsLast edited by jerry clayton; 08-02-2017 at 09:04 AM.

Yep, exactly. But you'll never convince the other side this. They think the guns are the evil wrong do-er when it is the end user. Take all the guns away and see how crime/death rates sky rocket. Chicago is a prime example. A state with some of the most strict gun laws in the nation and it isn't helping. Why? Because dirt bags are going to be dirt bags.Ryan

I'm a big advocate for personal firearm ownership by all legal US citizens. I've had concealed carry for ever and while I've never been in a life threatening situation as a civilian while carrying I wouldn't hesitate a second to defend my self or loved ones with whatever means necessary.
I carried a 1911 in the military - great piece. Heavy and limited capacity magazine but dead honest in performance and certainly stops with a single shot. We were issued Ball 230 grain FMJ but often carried jacketed hollow points - entry the size of a dime and exit the size of a pie plate and it was lights out with one well placed shot. My mind still sees the results of a HP on an Iranian who happened upon my team in a covert in 1981 - had nightmares for a long time but glad my #2 was quick to fire as he and I both lived to tell the tale while the Iranian went to meet Allah.
My father passed these two antique pieces on to me and I put them in little walnut cases and they hang on my office wall. The flintlock is from England - probably late 1700's. The Indian Bull dog is .38 caliber also from England - late 1800's.
Probably not worth much, but nice conversation pieces.
I've also noticed that most hot rodders - at least those in my age bracket - are real comfortable carrying and believe strongly in the 2nd Amendment.

This statement is so true, but it seems as though our "Elected" officials don't seem to understand this fact! Back home, I thought our city was tops in shootings until I moved to Illinois and saw what Chicago has become! Taking guns from citizens will absolutely NOT stop criminals from acquiring them!I thought I knew a lot, until I had teenagers!
