Evolvo, could we just stop with the verbal jousting for a minute and take a look at the big picture? I have been very curious as to what the ultimate agenda of folks like you is. Just exactly what is it that you want? Do you want this country to be governed by a Socialist government or by a Communist government or what exactly do you see as the ideal form of government for America? If Socialism is your cup of tea, then you have to look no further than Venezuela. Take a good look at that regime. See how the people have nothing to eat and are scrounging for food out of garbage dumps? Is that your idea of perfect? For Communism, take a look at Cuba. Doctors there have quit doctoring because they can make more money driving a cab. Does that sound ideal to you? Please tell the rest of us how you would form the new government if you had the power to do to. What form of government you would like to see these United States of America turned into, rather than our Representative Democracy that has served us so well for over 240 years and is still serving well, the people who determine to educate themselves, obey the law and work hard.
Also, I am very, very, very tired of hearing people calling anyone who loves the red, white and blue or who voted for President Trump, a racist. It seems to be the buzz word for those of who have insufficient education to express themselves. Seriously Evolvo, please step up to the plate and illucidate, what is it that you want?

Besides Cuba---------back in the late 80s early 90s, flying into Mexico City quite often---------seemingly high level of humanity--------cabs were being driven by doctors and lawyers because nobody had enough money for medical issues and no one or corporations had enough money to make anybody wealthy through court actions--------don't waste money on a lawyer to sue some one because they ain't got enough $$$$$$$to make it worth while------
There gov and local/national $$$$$$$$$$$ aren't about taxes, but about cartels and coruption

I'm not Jerry but if he said he flew into Mexico City and relating his experience you can bet your ass it's true.
Mexicans have been in this country before it was a country but that doesn't excuse the current crop who undercut American wage earners and are on the government teat. As far as muslims go, If they are a practicing muslim, and most are, and follow the koran their goal in life is to eliminate the infidel by whatever means it takes. I become downright bigoted with someone who wants to see me dead.Ken Thomas

As per usual you show your ass by assuming something that is not true. I never said I was beneath that type of work, both of my grandparents were farmers as was one of my uncles. Farming was never my cup of tea but I tried my hand at many aspects of it including milking cows which I could never get the hang of.
Mexicans have been harvesting crops in california since Christ was a corporal, but after Cesar Chavez organized the workers thing got a little testy and of course the producers, otherwise known as the land owners, will pay only as much as they are forced to pay irregardless of who harvests the crop/s.
I do not have a problem with hard workings folks no matter their skin color, but I do take exception to the lazy entitled crowd and those who support them.Ken Thomas

Chavez saw a need where there was a void and he filled it and made things better for the migrant worker and screwed everyone else in the process. The key word in that sentence is "migrant worker". Years ago they came from Mexico for the season and then returned home until they found that california offered the best welfare benefits of all the states so they became year round "migrant workers." Then they started demanding more and more of their hosts and that more or less is the situation california is in today and will remain that way until the people who pay the bills have had enough or leave.
The article you posted for the most part is "cherry picked" and I don't believe the claims against Walmart and the rest is about minimum wage earners. If one is too stupid to be able to attain only a minimum wage position or entry level job then maybe they should try a college education so they can apply at Enterprise Car Rental.Last edited by NTFDAY; 08-30-2017 at 03:11 PM.

Most Americans do indeed feel manual labor is beneath them. Particularly generation snowflake whom feels any job without a direct compute interface is contemptible.
There are solutions! The homeless populations could be put to work in the harvests. Inmates could be utilized. Social programs such as food stamps could have a minimum work requirement (imagine the howls the left will eminate, forcing people to work the harvest if they want free food).
But, nothing will change until we evict the criminal labor force..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Getting most of the homeless to work will be a good one. Granted there are homeless people that do need help, and will work once they get on the right path. But most of them live that life style because that is what they want to do. Nothing, anytime and any where. They play the system and are proud of it. We have homeless that live behind one of our buildings at work and dealing with them over the years sure gives a person a different perspective on it.Ryan

My son was a manager at a local store. They had people go to work that would quit near the end of the year. Sometimes as early as Sept or Oct. This happened just about every year with different employees. The store would have to hire more people around about this time.
Come to find out, they knew exactly how much money they could make and still get the earned income credit refund on their taxes. I think that's about $10,000 plus most of everything else that they paid in during the year. Of course these people were also getting low income assistance like EBT and WIC so they would go bum a place to stay for a few months and wait for a big government check in Jan.
How do I know this? Because my son asked one of them and they told him. Something to the effect of "why should I work for you when the government will pay me anyhow?". That is one of the main reasons that we have to hire illegals to do work that used to be done by lower educated folks. The "citizens" are collecting enough social money that they don't have to take that work any more. This is one of the main problems with any system that, whether intended or not, rewards people for not working.
Why should they work? Most of them are from low income and low educated families that have been doing the same type of thing for 2 or 3 generations. They have no concept of the dignity of work and would have hard time understanding it, because they have never really seen it in their families. They feel that they are much smarter than everyone else because they get away with it.
To me, that is the definition of "Gaming the system" which according to most liberals, doesn't really happen except in the minds of conservatives and other racist types. Hang around any area that has a lot of low income folks and you will see it more than you want to.Last edited by Hotrod46; 08-30-2017 at 03:47 PM.

A sad and sorry state we have come to in this country. Freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution include free expression and actions that are fundamental to a democratic form of government. We all have freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech. The manner in which some professional athletes (who are by the way well compensated for their services and certainly enjoy a lifestyle few in America will ever see) is, by some measure, a way to identify with and protest what they believe to be gross social injustice. It is an insult to other Americans. If you’re in agreement –by all means enjoy. If you do not like it, there are several options. You can turn off the TV, record the first few minutes and fast forward, or just boycott professional sports and work on your hot rod.
I’m personally put off with this nonsense and I believe that our President needs to focus on other stuff – like the little rocket man.
Now, I think I’ll go replace an intake manifold and tune up the truck!
Regards all and thank God I live in America.

I hear ya - Joanie and I have two very precious adopted girls - from Kenya. They're seniors in high school and have lived with us for three years. We have a lot of interesting homework discussion, re; US History and around their civics class this year. As you can see - they look just like our other kids!!
I believe the great majority of Americans believe "all lives matter" and are appalled by the mistreatment of anyone at the hands of crooked law enforcement and yes, I know there are some who bring the trouble on themselves. The media fuels the fire with selective reporting to such an extent that it's impossible for me to really know (in Portland) what happens in Baltimore.
We'd have a lot more in common that not and a discussion over coffee would reveal kindred spirits. We can agree to disagree, but from what I read of your posts, "...we could work it out..."
Weld up a storm my friend!!

No matter what anyone thinks the president, no matter of party affiliation, enjoys the same rights as everyone else. Other than calling all of them "sons of bitches", actually I can think of far better descriptive terms, he was right on the money. Personally I'm going to enjoy watching both the nba and the nfl go down the toilet.Ken Thomas

From a Brietbart article:
"The NFL rule book specifically requires both teams appear on the field for the playing of the anthem, standing, remaining quiet,*and holding their helmets in their left hands. Failure to do so can result in fines, suspensions, and the loss of draft picks.*
The rules are found on pages A62-63 of the league’s*game operations manual:
The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. *It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.".
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
