Start by enforcing ALL the Laws of the Land. To the letter. US Government Laws prevail over the States. The States prevail over the Cities and so on.
Prosecute law breakers equally. Be it a private citizen or a high ranking Government Official.
Enforce laws literally as they were written and intended. No more sanctuary Cities or States. See line one. Enforce all the laws of the land.

Folks, I've let this thread stay open for quite some time, but do not like the "tone" that it has taken the last few days.
Without pointing to one particular member, I will state the following:
"you want to push buttons, this is not the topic, or the web forum to do so, you have been banned elsewhere, do you want that here as well"
Enough said

Evolvo if you want to live in a gun free society I suggest that you try N Korea, England, Germany, France or any number of nations that have strict gun laws. Furthermore I suggest you google Switzerland and after reading about their attitude towards gun ownership you return here and explain to all of us why their system works so well.Ken Thomas

I just started reading this thread, and am heartened that most of us can discuss topics non politically for the most part. Jerry Thank you. I will also say I only got to page three with my morning coffee, so I may have missed stuff! Bill as always stepping in is a good reminder to go back and read the very first post and respect it!" The thing is, fully automatic weapons are already illegal. Making them illegal twice won't fix anything. That would be like putting up 2 stop signs for people who keep disregarding the first stop sign. It's the people that are crazy. Maybe we should teach that human life has value and isn't just a random Cosmic coincidence. Perhaps then people will think differently. We should start treating the problem and not the symptoms of the problem.Seth

The anti gun people need to get it through their heads......................... It isn't a gun control problem....... It's an evil person/psycho person issue. Even if you ban all fire arms to US Citizens, this will not stop nasty horrid events like this one! The dirt bags/evil people wanting to inflict harm will get the tools they need some where else. Just research shootings in Chicago and find out how many of the guns there used in these shootings were obtained legally.
Another thing. If the government bans fire arms and dirt bags start using cars and trucks to drive through the crowds, are you going to take away my cars and trucks?
Like it has already been said, there is a lot of fear instilled in a lot of people because of this shooting. My thoughts and prayers go out to families and friends of all involved.Ryan

No political statement, just facts:
1. Not all fully automatic weapons are illegal. However, it is illegal for any private civilian to own any fully automatic weapons manufactured after May 19, 1986.
2. CA, DE, DC, HI, IL, MA, MN, NJ, RI, WA, WI do not allow fully automatic weapons. The rest do.
3. In the states that do allow fully automatic weapons, they are tightly regulated - first by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), then by the states. Without the BATF license, you can't buy one, even if the state allows it. BATF requires a thorough background check, fingerprints, photographs, passport photo, approval by your local police chief, and a 12-page form. Typically, BATF THOROUGHLY investigates the buyer and seller and slow-walks the application process.Jack

I stand corrected. I'm going to go to a side I usually don't go to on this sort of argument but I'm going to say all fully automatic weapons should be banned. There's just no need for it.Seth

I think I'm going to take a shine's advise on this thread. Usually on these topics your just preaching to the choir or trying to change somebody's mind that will not change. You got appreciate the passion on both sides, but I do feel one side is more correct than the other.Seth

talked with a guy at a car show that had a restored military jeep complete with the 50 cal machine gun on it. he said he had to be in full control at all times. never leave it. when he went to lunch there was a state trooper who stood by it until he returned. he was a collector and said he was under all kinds of scrutiny with all his weapons and was subject to inspection at any time.

Google doesn't always know everything. The Las Vegas sheriff stated today that he was not aware of any weapons that are fully automatic, but a couple had a bump stock. Reporters/talking heads with no knowledge of firearms use the term 'automatic' (many shots with one trigger pull, or 'machine guns' in the vernacular) for weapons that are actually semi-automatic (one shot with one trigger pull).Jack
