Office of the President of the USA

Well---------I think that many of you will side with me on this-------I think its time for every citizen of USA to push for a unified effort to reastablish the Honor of the office, for the position, etc of the exectitive branch of our government-Its got to go way beyong Right/Left /racist/gay/lesbian/transgender/etc and get back to being the office of the leader of the free world------
I'm tired of electing Dems/Repubs people of our localities that go to Washington to play on a us/them team competition-they are there to represent US-------not some silly donkey or elephant(sounds like animal abuse?)

Whats you thoughts????? I'm not asking for political views/ debate, but for friendly thoughts about how to restore HONOR to OUR country

    Denny thanks for the reply

I think most of the guys on here ( Barb's family also) are of the age where we served our country and possibly have a different slant toward a Chain of Command that isn't what is there today

I agree 100% ,even with our former commander-in-chief I did respect him as much as I could and didn't talk trash at every opportunity I could think of.The media and all of the talk shows, and the late night shows have absolutely zero respect for our president and that's why I don't watch any late night show or any news anymore. And it's also kind of a trickle-down thing when none of the media respects our president it somehow works the way into society. I feel they need to be held accountable for that.

I think that whoever is elected as president By the People should no longer be the leader of HIS PARTY, but the LEADER of the USA and therefor preside in the office of PRESIDENT, not be a person that is pushing for or against whatever might be happening in congressional branches-------he's there to sign OR veto whatever they send him while he is leading USA in world events .

Thanks, Jerry for opening this dialog. I believe we’re all adults here and should be able to have an intelligent discourse about the office of the President. After all, the government does have a profound influence on the laws that regulate a hobby that’s near and dear to our hearts – hot rods!

I am saddened by the coverage provided by the media as I believe it to be jaundiced to a point of having no value. Be it the newspaper (which I have stopped taking), radio, television and above all, news on the Internet. I don’t know what to believe and now it seems that professional athletes are using their bully-pulpits to make statements that certainly are contrary to what I see in my little slice of the world. On average, NBA players make $5.15 million, MLB players make $3.2 million, NHL players make $2.4 million, and NFL players make $1.9 million per year, according to Forbes. But that doesn't even tell the full story as they all have huge endorsement contracts. So could we just play ball and respect the people who pay your salaries by staying out of politics? Few, if any, professional athletes have any political science education and they’re just spouting an opinion based on too few facts.

I love this great country of ours. I’ve been to five continents and countless countries and there’s no place like the United States (I’ve yet to visit Australia or New Zealand but understand they’re great as well!) Kenya just had an election and this was the headline that followed: “At least 24 people, including a 6-year-old child, have been killed since the election results were announced Friday night, according to the Kenyan National Commission on Human Rights.”

I respect the Office of the President of the United States. Don’t always agree with him (in any administration) and I pray for our President on a regular basis and I always remember that he has been elected by a system I support and my vote is a privilege I hold dear. Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Liberal or Libertarian – we are all Americans and we need to begin to act like a country that cares.

I cannot change the world, but I can touch one life at a time and that brings me great joy. If it’s giving a ride to a total stranger and hearing his story or leading a tool to a neighbor and sharing a cup of coffee over the fence. Next time you’re at the grocery, give the checker a $20 bill and them to deduct it from the bill of next person in line. I love to pick up the tab anonymously now and again at Shari’s or Denny’s for a young family who’s got a couple youngsters out for breakfast – it’s really a blessing to me.

Same for all of you here. I respect you even though I have met very few face-to-face, but that’s gonna change next year as I officially retire and Joanie and I will be road tripping across this great country of ours! So don’t be surprised to get a PM letting you know we’re in the motel down the road and want to come by for coffee and then we can really have a conversation!

Thanks again Jerry – I respect you and your talents with cars but more so appreciate that we share a patriotism and love for America. We can make America Great Again – by touching one person at a time.

Regards and Respect to you all,
    Glenn

This problem has festered and erupted while we were not looking, while we were not paying attention to what our children were being taught in school. The schools are a cesspool of radical leftist thinking and our current crop of citizens, up to about the age of 40, has been educated in a system that is biased to the far left. They seem to want this country to shed off Capitalism and the Representative Democracy form of government that was given to us by the founding fathers and adopt some crude system of government that doesn't work. You have to look no further than Venezuela or Cuba to see examples of such leftist governments. This current crop of citizens has never lived under these types of rule, but they have been brainwashed and convinced by the leftist teachers and professors that those are the way to go and that Capitalism has to be abandoned. This will continue if we, the silent majority, don't take control of the schools again and monitor what the youngsters are being taught.

History, for example, is not being taught in school anymore. I believe that is because the left does not want the students to take any pride in their country. If the students don't have pride in the United States of America, it will be that much easier to abandon our current way of life and institute another form of government. Ask any cashier at any store....Who won the Civil War?....Nine out of ten of them will look at you like you have two heads. They don't have a clue.

The main problem with Congress is that we have also allowed our Representatives and Senators to stay in office for life. They chummy up with lobbyists who feather the lawmaker's nests with vast sums of money tagged as re-election funds. The lawmakers find themselves bought and paid for before they know it and are urged by other senior lawmakers to "Go along to get along". Bills that are contrary to the good of the majority of Americans find their way into law of the land simply because it is not the lawmakers who are making the decisions for us, it is the lobbyists and big money who are making the decisions.

How to fix this? You know that Congress will never pass term limits, it is totally against their agenda of staying in office and growing wealthy. But there is a very simple solution. Simply do not vote for anyone who has already served one term. Simple. You serve one term and then go back home to whatever you were doing before you were elected to Congress and you let a new guy or gal have your seat to do what they can for one term, to help the American people, not lobbyists and big money.
Simple, simple, simple, do not vote for an incumbent.

"...do not vote for an incumbent." Could not agree more, Tech!

It would be interesting to see what a Senator or Congressman would do if they KNEW they had one term.

Step one: Kill them all. Put their severed heads on pikes in front of the white house.

    Step two: hold an election.

Repeat steps one and two as needed.

Our fathers brought forth on this continet a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedecated to the proposition that all men were created equal-------

I don't know anything about how your political system works over there but I shall share my personal observations from down here in New Zealand of what I see and hear. This isn't just effecting the USA either from where I stand as we have elections for a new government coming up at the end of next month. I totally agree that the children of today are getting taught rubbish and certainly nothing to cherish or have pride in the history of not only their own country of birth, but the world in which we now live. How many young ones know who first " discovered America " , which country did that sailing ship leave from etc.. History gives us a sense of belonging yet some in the USA now want to destroy some of that history which makes them no better than the idiots who have destroyed the historic places in Iraq etc.. The problem also is as already mentioned and we now have this same issue here, the media is too influential in steering peoples views and opinions in the direction they want it to go which is again, driven by greed of big business. How to fix these issues, goodness knows really, but I do agree with what both Jerry and Richard have written and the other point I wish to make, we down here are also watching and listening to everything happening in your political system as it does have a run off effect on the rest of the world.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.
