Thanks for the thoughts Ted. We're about 100 miles or so north of where the storm stalled then turned. While we've gotten plenty of rain, some wind, and the creeks are risin' we have done much better than our folks down on the coast. Today was supposed to be another rainfest but at 6:00 am broken clouds and hasn't rained for several hours..............who knows..........Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

i know a lot of folks down there. some ignored that ignorant mayor and headed north. why they keep electing fools i will never understand. this storm is far worse than they were told by local leaders . they will get a years worth of rain in just a few days .

Not to make too light of the hardships on those along the Gulf Coast, but when those of us that are only lightly inconvenienced by comparison we do what Texans do................smoke up a nice, prime brisket. One way to take up half a day when the weather isn't conducive to other outside work.......Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I'm glad to hear you and Shine are alright. My uncle lives in between Brazoria and Sweeney really close to the Brazos river. I mean literally 6 blocks away. He boarded his windows and rode the storm out but were greeted by a knocking on the front door yesterday. They were ordered to get out because the flooding was coming. They didn't want to leave but it sounds like it is a good thing they did. They went to my other Uncle's place in Leander where he has a camper they can stay in until they might be able to go back.Ryan

I too have been following the news and watching how and where that storm is tracking as my nephew from England is holidaying in Orlando Florida at the moment and I wanted to see if he was going to get any of that storm. I use a site named Windy. com which is amazing detail of the weather around the world and very upto date. You all stay safe and the thing that hurts me so much, is that so many have to leave their pets behind which don't fair well in floods. I'll being praying for them and all concerned.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Bad business down there on the coast side of Houston; praying - such as I do - for those folks. We have friends in Sugar Land, Katy, and Conroe, and so far as we know, they got pretty wet, but not flooded; one even posted a couple of things about his cooking hobby, so I know they are ok --- so far. If I was able, I'd be heading that way to offer my assistance. One of my sons was hauling round trip contract into Port Arthur out of the Rockies, and their dispatch pulled them off for a while and put them on another contract.
