Finally???
Been rainin' and overcast most of the weekend, so I got the battery charged up and spent some hours "fixin' some little things and then took it out for a bath.
The sun didn't come out but it was fun tooling around just the same.

I noted the cleaning paraphernalia.
I seem to remember your missus saying words to the effect that in your younger days you were a bit of a scrubber.
(Couldn't help myself! Sorry!)
(Sorry?...nah...not really...)

It was fun to go for a quick ride. I had noticed over the winter that the trunk lid was "sagged" or lower on the right top than it had been. So I started looking for a reason and discovered that the screws that hold the hinges up had come loose and 1 was missing. Of course getting to that location was something else! I tried to be nice about it but.. it didn't take long and I broke out a saw and made a handhole in the bulkhead so I could install new screws.
The next issue was the trunk lid support that keeps the lid in the raised position. The screws that go into the lid just never stay tight and the holes began to wallow out.. So I made a plate to go behind the mounting point, that was the easy part! To get it in there I had to make a small hole near the mounting point and then slide it into position then get the screws through the mount and body then into the new plate! Talk about a monkey and a football!!
I had to leave it and calm down for a couple hours.. then I pulled the new plate back out, thank goodness for magnets! Then I drilled a small hole the same O.D. as a small stiff wire I had handy, affixing the wire onto the plate let me position the plate and keep it from backing away when I tried to get the screw in. I finally got the screws in and tight, now the support works as intended. THAT was the intention for the title to this thread!
Getting that done also made me start thinking about working on the car again too! I still want to do things like the side windows, finish off the trunk area, get the gas gauge working more accurately. Plus some other things that escape me at the moment.. that's my way of acknowledging that I never did finish the cut and buff!

Believe me when I say that I would've enjoyed it too!
I remember when Roger Spears and I were leaving the Old Mare Run and got stuck in traffic. Fuses started burning a tad low with the snail's pace we were proceeding at.
We finally got out of it...within five minutes at full noise on a clear road I had a grin from ear to ear like a cat that had swallowed the cream!
That's why I could never drive an electric car; they have no soul.
Whereas the rumble of a V8 under load...bloody gorgeous!johnboy

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Thank You for the kind words Steve.
I completely agree! The looks, the sounds... nothing better!
I think it's safe to say the 32 / 33 / 34 Fords set a standard that was hard to beat.
Guilty as charged!! Blissfully so! The car ride, the show, and the company. Made for a week to remember!
Thank you Roger. .
