Ya'll are behind the times! Now it's called climate change. An all-inclusive term for whatever the weather happens to be doing at the time.
I'm pretty sure the climate has been changing ever since the planet has been here, so they're most likely safe with that name.Mike

It's been proven that there has been (at least) 5 ice ages. And it looks like we're heading for #6. How they don't blame all those dinosaurs just escapes me! Those guys lived a couple million years longer than man! But somehow it's our fault ??

Excerpt from my diary:
Tuesday 29th January.
Lunch, then back up into the shed to carry on loading the container. Got Fred, Matt, and Rick to come give me a hand to shift the eight stillages into it. They’re not heavy; but are bloody awkward for one man alone to handle. Then carried on by myself until about 4:30 when I decided it was just too hot to continue. (The temperature in the container was 37* C = 99 F.)johnboy

"......The weather is cyclical and we can't change that....."
Very true Charlie. Just watched the national weather. Typical scary name being thrown around (Polar Vortex) and WORST EVER crap. Then they throw up the last time it was this cold and it was 20 years ago in some places.
If I was 19 that would have an impact on me but at 67 I've seen and lived thru worse.
For the "news" it's a ratings game. For some it's a way to make money and have a job.....solar panels, windmills and "scientific studies". For the politicians it an excuse to try and grab more power.
I'm not saying the climates not changing, I'm not even saying that some of it isn't caused by human activity. My problem is with some of the studies I've read (yes I've actually waded thru a few of them). When the methodology for the study is either not provided, suspect or so narrowly framed as to only lead to a single conclusion, it does call into question all of the conclusions and recommendations. It also always leads into the next question......who's getting enriched off it.
Hey but what do I know
.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Don't forget...….the latest darling of the media tells us we're goners in 12 years anyway. Sort of a golden oldie prediction/scare tactic......speaking of which...…….Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I will say that weather forecasts have gotten more reliable over the years, but they're still only good for about a 48 hour window. There are 4 or 5 computer models for the weather and they are often not in agreement. Many times they are wildly different and they start with the same data. Even meteorologists will agree on this. So how am I supposed to believe that they can tell me what the weather will be 25 years from now.
This was explained in recent article by saying that the climate has nothing to do with the weather!
Ice cores from Greenland told us a long time ago that we were due for another ice age. That is based on real hard science and most likely correct. The climate change models are based on speculation and theory and there have been reports of too many tweaks of the data. Like MikeP, I'm not a change denier, but I'm very sceptical that many of the doom Sayers genuinely have anything other than money and power in mind.Last edited by Hotrod46; 01-31-2019 at 05:23 AM.
