Hey Johnboy and she who must be obeyed
These are pictures I forgot that I took when I was showing you parts of Route 66. They're dated August 2015 and you and Rosie and your son are standing in front of an old gas station that's sort of a museum. It's located on an original stretch of 66 a couple of miles west of Halltown, Mo.6262.jpg6263.jpg6265.jpg6266.jpgKen Thomas

Crikey!
I well remember that, seeing those photos brings back many memories!
Paris Springs as I recall; a part of Route 66 that would seem to be relatively untouched.
I remember too that you gave us a couple of maps; I can't now recall of what areas, but I do know that they were used so often they quite literally fell apart.
And look at the size of the gut on me! Ya wouldn't know me now; I've lost over 40 kg (90 lbs,) and kept it off too. (The downside of that is I've had to buy more trousers. The old ones, on the new me, made me look like a pick-axe in a sack.)
(I notice too the ubiquitous cigarette in my hand...that hasn't changed!)
Thanks for that mate.
Thanks for the pictures.
And thanks for going out of your way to help strangers bumbling their way around in a strange (to them,) country.
It was much appreciated.
You're a good man.johnboy

As I recall the maps were of Ohio, Kentucky and probably Tennessee and I'm glad they helped out.
I'm glad you had a good time.Ken Thomas

It was you, and people like you, that made it possible for us to have such a good time.
We were given names and addresses of "Must Do'' things: things the average tourist would wot-not of.
I can't now rattle of who gave us what information; but I know you, Charlie Fisher, toomany2count, (Joe Wiemer,) 34_40 (Mike Frade,) Jerry Clayton, Bob Parmenter, Techinspector 1, Roger Spears, Dick Smelser, Randy Ross, and many many many others ensured we got about the very best we could from our trip.
Many of you we were privileged to meet. Those we did were great ambassadors for your country.
I'm proud to know you all.johnboy

Thanks.
It was actually quite easy; although it took me a couple of years.
In essence: all I did was not put so much tucker into my face, and the easiest way to do that was to stop snacking, and use a smaller dinner plate.
The plate was still full; but held only half the tucker.
Edit: sorry! Kiwi slang: tucker = food!Last edited by johnboy; 05-29-2019 at 10:52 PM.

I got the kiwi speak, so to say (speak).
Isn't it interesting how small changes can add up!.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Yep.
I went from a 44" waist measurement to a 36".
Small changes; but over two years they added up to be quite a lot.
And it was completely painless.johnboy
