Are they in trouble or just can't survive under California's dictatorship?

Just like all the old time gun manufacturers that moved out of New York and Massachusetts, why would they stay in a state that is hostile to the very notion of what they manufacture. I don't know that is the actual reason, but it would make a lot of sense to me. Why would you give lots of tax dollars to a state that is constantly changing the rules that govern the products you make. You have to admit, Cali is not exactly the friendliest state for hot rodders. May have been at one time, but not anymore.

I do remember a fellow I ran into several years ago that was moving to the Mississippi gulf coast from California. He told me that he was born and raised in Cali and really loved the state, but that the tax and regulatory climate made it impossible for him to own a business and make a living.

The fact that they have facilities in Mississippi and North Carolina suggests that they want to move to areas that are more business friendly. The casting can probably be done in another country with less environmental regulation and finished in the states cheaper than building a new casting facility. That way, the fit and finish can be controlled if they are even interested in keeping quality up. Hopefully, they won't move their manufacturing totally out of the country like so many other companies.

That what I was wondering. Why stay in the state that wants you gone and will make sure that you know it.

Mike pretty much nailed in my mind as well. The NC facility is fairly new, and "going broke" doesn't usually sneak up on a decent sized company, especially one that was bought by an investment banking firm like this one. Many smaller, niche product hot rod companies will fade away in the next decade, but Edelbrock has kept up with producing products that serve newer vehicles, so should only see their legacy products shrink in sales volume. A bunch of companies, including HP, Tesla, and many more have left Ca. because of the onerous regs and costs. They're coming here to Texas for the better business climate. Unfortunately they probably bring their ignorant voting habits that led to the mess they left. They pay too much attention to intentions and not enough to predictable outcomes.

One of my last power generation projects was built south of Phoenix, in the beautiful little town of Casa Grande. During the early part, when we were supporting the client in the permitting process, one of the county officials mentioned that something like 80% of their population worked for the local/county/state government in one way or another. We found that the older folks had taken to calling the area "Los Angeles East", due to the large number of residents that had moved over from SOCAL, and indeed brought their idealistic ideas with them. One of the client's guys, whose job was to appease the locals where ever they were working told me, "They're just a bunch of CAVE People - Citizens Against Virtually Everything!" Turned out he was spot on!

I agree, Bob. Corporate consolidation, while also distancing from the expenses and hassles of California. Haggerty jumped on the bandwagon, too -

I live about 5 hours from Olive Branch. I wonder if they have a storefront? Might be cool place to visit. I do know that a friend of mine was having issues with his FAST EFI. HE drove to their headquarters for tech support.
