    Granddaughter's new car

Yesterday I gave my granddaughter, my youngest daughter's daughter Madison, a 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP hardtop/convertible. It has a few flaws, what car 25 years old doesn't?
The biggest is tires and new ones will be put on tomorrow.
To say she was surprised is an understatement.IMG_6975.jpgIMG_6977.jpgIMG_6980.jpgIMG_6985.jpgIMG_6987.jpgIMG_6975.jpgIMG_6977.jpgIMG_6980.jpgIMG_6985.jpgIMG_6987.jpg

That's her in the Snoopy sweatshirt and there on the right my great granddaughter.
I think it had every option available and my daughter said it sold for something like $25,000 when new. I paid $4600 and it has a clean CarFax. Her father found a set of Boss wheels which will go on tomorrow with the new tires.

    Using "Old Math", 2021 - 2006 = 15 years

You gave her a nearly new car, Ken!!

Nice car! Good for you Ken, I haven't seen any 15 year old cars that don't need a little tinkering, still very nice!

Good looking ride, red is the right color for that. Some cars just need to be red. Boss wheels, is that a style or brand, the ones seen look fitting?

GM in my opinion should have kept the Pontiac's

It's a brand and as soon as I get them mounted I'll take a couple of pictures and I agree GM should have kept both Pontiac and Oldsmobile.

What a fantastic gift to granddaughter from grandpa! The look on her face says a lot. She's one fortunate girl to have a man of character and strength in her life, Ken. This is the way families are supposed to work in not only taking care of one another but doing things that show we love our kids and grandkids. We can't take it with us and there is no greater joy than sharing - especially with our loved ones.

Kudos to you - you really are a "great" grandpa.

    Update on Madison's new car:
She was hanging out with friends last night in downtown Springfield in a parking garage. She got out of the car for a brief moment and left the keys in the car. The girl riding shotgun decided to take off and as Madison took chase after her. Madison caught up with and opened to door to try and stop her and the girl put the car in reverse and backed over Madison breaking he left ankle and skinned up her arms. The girl then hit a parked car and backed into a retaining wall so hard she went forward hitting her head on the steering wheel which knocked her out. The police were called but they haven't filed a report yet so I don't know if the girl was arrested or not.
The top was down and she pretty well bashed in the lower left rear corner. The car will drive, but the top won't go up and I believe the insurance company will total it. I will post pictures when I get a chance to go over to assess the damage.

    Holy shi-eit.

I didn't like where it was going after "keys in car". I hope she heals ok, cars can be replaced. And may the judge throw the book at her "friend ".

That's sad, Ken. Hopefully Madison is re-thinking her "friends" group.

We had a sort of come to Jesus meeting.
Somehow in all the confusion Madison's phone was in the car and it butt dialed her sister. The whole lasted some 4 minutes and it's all on audio plus there are security cameras at that location. We'll know more when the police finish their investigation. Someone will pay dearly.
