I know the feeling.
What starts as a job that will take an hour finishes up a Major Undertaking.
I not only read the book and watched the movie; I wrote the book and directed the movie!johnboy

Just to give an update.. I still haven't finished polishing but that's because I've taken on a job for a local excavation company, they have a belt (stacker) conveyor that was sitting at the back of their property that they wanted to put into service, but no one remembers exactly when it last ran! , it's work and pays cash so.. it's one of those jobs where I first replaced the battery, then a battery cable cause it wouldn't connect power, then a separate power wire was broke and today I finally got the starter to engage but it won't crank.. so literally dig that out and every bolt I touch breaks. good thing I only quoted an hourly rate! Then tonite Mark and I worked some more on why his truck won't shift.. long story shortened, he "misplaced" a power supply to the trans. many phone calls to Ron Francis who supplied the controller ( and has been most helpful and cordial!) and we discovered finally that he "lost a wire". so I'll bust the harness open and search for it and finish that connection. That should fix that issue ( I HOPE!)..

So what kind of drive does the stacker conveyor have. Are you looking at having to tear down the engine, or maybe dump Marvels Mystery Oil in the cylinders for a good soak for a few days?Roger

He is definitely gonna be a hot rodder if he keeps hanging around! I'm certain we'll "ruin him" but good! LOL
Mark and his dad took the truck for a test ride.. gone a long time and had me worried a bit... Seems they stopped for a photo op. LOL. We had a hangup in the trans shifting but seems we've got it sorted now.

Been awhile since I've given any updates.. oops.. 8-)
I was crawling around under the coupe over the weekend, after I completed the cleanup of all the shiny bits. Roger and Seth were mentioning pinion angles and I couldn't remember if and/or what I had mine set at. Since the car was in the air... what the heck! So I set about to gather data. Pinion at 0 degrees... driveshaft at joint also 0 degrees. transmission tailshaft 5 degrees, driveshaft at joint 0 degrees... HMmmmmm... gonna have to fix that. Of course every connection needs to come out, get cleaned and lubed... working on the floor seems so much harder now than it used to. sigh.... I did get that conveyor up and running and it went to work - all good as JB would say. They liked my work and asked me to get another unit going. This one was a homebuilt unit to feed a crusher. Kubota diesel cobbled into some hydraulics to turn a flat belt. So I re-wired it, simple basic circuits and got that one running. Basically done, just need to figure out the charging system but I just picked up a wire diagram so almost finished!
Merry Christmas ya'll
