    Almost done

After 6 years of wrenchin', my friend Mark got to take his Dad for a ride in his truck. I finished most of the wiring and there is still some bugs to work out, but it's legal to go down the road and it did. I tried to post a short video but it's still to large to go in here. OH Well. I got mu coupe apart to rebuild the brake system.. been 22 years, I guess it's about time. I had to make an adapter to couple the new master cylinder push rod to the end of the old rod.. Maybe the pic will post?

With that deep channel I'd have to add a "Gurney Helmet Bump" to the roof! But I bet it looks mean sitting on the ground!

Yes, it's nice having the coupe on the floor and being worked on. Got the new Master installed today. One of those 1 step up / 2 steps down kinda day. There's enough difference between the old and new that it took a lot more fitting than I expected. But step 1 is completed and now onto the calipers.

What calipers are you going to run? After messing with stock ones on my Vette I bit the bullet and went with the inexpensive set of Wilwood's. Couldn't be more happy.

Been wrenching on my coupe at least a few hours a day. Calipers were all torn down, cleaned with all new seals installed. The new master cylinder is installed and Mark gave me a hand bleeding out any air. And I have been chasing brake fluid leaks ever since! Fittings that have never leaked, suddenly drip! WTF! Argh.. Some were easy , just give a simple twist of the wrench. OK!

A couple have just blistered my behind. 8-( A "Tee" fitting at the rear didn't have enough room to spin so no obvious way to get it out.. but it is a bulkhead fitting so remove the brake line on the other side of the frame then remove the nut that held it in the frame... Hold the "Tee" on one side and spin the bulkhead fitting on the other... clean the threads, inspection didn't show any problems... add some teflon lube on the threads, and reassemble it all. Mark came by last night and we bled all the air out. One final look underneath... and I have 1 more line with a fitting wet! Guess what I am doing today?

Replaced the last brake line with new and redid the bulkhead fitting on the passenger side just like I did the left side. Mark was kind enough to return yet again and we re-bled the system. crawled around underneath and it's all dry again! I hope it's still that way tomorrow!LOL. Also replaced the motor oil and filter, lubed the suspension and called it a night. Should be able to wrap up stage 1 tomorrow... Stage 2 is to investigate the install of electric window operators.

Yes, I have manual window regulators... And I bought the switches that use the "old" crank handles, so it looks stock but move the handle 1 way and open, move the handle the other way and closes window.

I did manage to wrap up the brake service and remounted the wheels. Then I noticed how tarnished the rims are.. SOOooooo.. break out the polish and start wearing out fingers! LOL.. I started with Simi-Chrome as the tube was almost finished anyway. Then I switch over to "White-Diamond".. they both work very well, but the simichrome seems to be a bit easier/faster to use.
Then of course as I finish the first wheel, the tail light and bumper are right there in my face looking dingy.. OH, and the mirror then the headlight too... It started as such a simple job.. now I just remembered the steering column is looking old and faded.. oh I guess the window handles ( 4 of them ) and interior mirror.. that should about do it!!!
