Ebay fail
so.
I've purchased some vehicles from ebay. Always a calculated risk. Most which were not entirely as described. Caveat emptor.
I recently pulled the trigger on a barn find 48 mercury.
My personal situation changed, I contacted the seller immediately, offered to reimburse listing fee if he'd let me off the hook.
New eBay seller. He didn't respond for days.his silence convinced me that I was being scammed. I contacted ebay, they supported my perspective.
Finally he contacts me.
We're both unhappy. Mildly stated.
I reimbursed his listing fee. In the end he was reasonable.

I don't see how this tale supports the title "Ebay Fail".
Seems to me you committed to buy, then changed your mind. After attempts to communicate your unwillingness to honor your commitment you contacted Ebay and they supported you. Unhappy that you backed out on a deal, the seller agreed to accept your offer to pay his listing fee, which I assume means you avoid a black mark from Ebay for reneging on a deal. I'd say you should be singing praises to the EvilBay Monster!

It was less about ebay than myself.
Mayhaps my concerns are valid to some degree, as the seller has not yet canceled the sale EVEN THOUGH I reimbursed the listing fee yesterday.
Major fail in a minor key.
I should have had a plan b.
I should have taken notice of his rating of ZERO.
I should NOT have made an offer before he replied my initial information request.
I have become WAY too complacent in my ebay dealings.
The first step to improvement is accepting blame.
Fail. On me.
So, why throw it out there to the net?
