Brent, Can You Help Glenn Sexton?

Member Glenn Sexton, screenname glennsexton, made a change to his primary email service and changed his email address on his CHR account. He also changed his password just to update. We've figured out that he must have automatically cleaned out his SPAM folder and then emptied his TRASH without looking at either, and we believe he deleted the "Verification Message" from the CHR Server, which has locked him out pending a reply to the message. His account is now in Never Never Land, "Awaiting Verification" which even removes his name from the Members List, and being locked out and not having the email he can't restore his settings or take any other action.

Brent, can you manipulate the software to re-send the "Verification Message" to Glenn? If you need more information from Glenn, Bill/MrMustang has Glenn's new email address (and may have sent it to you already), so you can communicate with Glenn directly.

I know I'm not alone saying that Glenn is one of the "Good Guys" on CHR, in fact he's one of the best and it would sure be great if he can post again as our glennsexton!

Thanks in advance for any help, Brent. Everything you do "behind the curtains" to keep CHR going is very much appreciated!

Limbo or not, if Glen can like a post, it means he is logged in with some type of equipment.
As such, and as I told you in an earlier PM, Glen needs to restore his deleted emails/junk mail/archived mail in his new email account and find the "confirmation" email, then click the link within. With his email server, I'm betting he did not actually delete the message, but "archived" it within his account.

As for everything else, I forwarded it to Brent the day it came in. Sometimes you have to help yourself before we can.

Thanks Bill, and I did email each of your PM's word for word to Glenn, copied and pasted, multiple messages. From this mornings email update from Glenn, advising Brent that he can log on but gets a Posting Notification:

Getting back to the bottom line, Glenn needs to restore his deleted emails, or check his "archives" then click on the link to confirm the new information. Without it, not much else can be done on my level, uncertain about Brent.

Just did a quick search of the Members List for "glennsexton" and got ZIP, so it looks like the answer to my question to Brent is "No", he can't help Glenn restore his account. And just for the record, when I delete my SPAM folder and then empty my TRASH there's no "restore" option left. The stuff's not "archived" it's GONE, so I appreciate that there's nothing more to be done at your level, Bill. As I see it, Brent is the only option, and he's a busy guy.

    Sorry Glenn, we tried!!

Seems as though the same thing was gone through with techinspector1 Funny about a year or so ago.
Funny thing though, another forum I frequent quite often has had the same problem with totally different results.

Having not wanting to give away the type of email used by Glenn, but now needing to for his sake, I highly recommend he review the following:

    https://support.google.com/a/answer/112445?hl=en

In addition, in the case he may not have actually deleted his emails, but "archived" them:

Sincere thanks, Bill. Those are two excellent links, and the second one about archiving helped me understand that feature better (my phone has a swipe to archive feature that I really don't like....)

In the first one about restoring deleted/trashed messages, I note one of the things that cannot be restored,
"Deleted messages from the spam folder." and that is what Glenn told me he did, without thinking about it. He regularly opens the SPAM folder, uses "Select All" and hits "Delete"; then he opens his "TRASH", and empties that, too.

I fear the ball's in Brent's court, to get the software to resend the request for verification, or perhaps to have Glenn open a new account and merge new with old?

he could just drop one n from his name and sign/ join in as a new member .. i know the angst in that though .. i had been a contributor to a civil war battlefield conservation group for 30 plus years but had to close a bank account recently over someone stealing my account number .. in trying to revive my member status with the conservation group they would not allow me simply to add a new bank account number .. i must lose 30 plus years seniority as a contributor and start anew .. " NOT "
iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

When deleting the spam folder in gmail, it then is placed in the trash folder, and is no longer classified as spam by the gmail server. As such, he then can follow the directions to restore the files in as timely a fashion as he can, search for the proper "confirmation" email, then click the link, or if the link has expired, within that same email, request a new confirmation link to be sent. I know this works with later versions of Vbulletin, uncertain if it will on 4.1.3 which is what the forum is currently on. Everything I've read says it will.

Looks like I found a work around!

Logged on and changed my email to another account (that I rarely use) and waited for the verificaiton email. Looks like I can once again post. Thanks for the help (and the kind words...)

Glad you found a way back! I thought for sure this was going to end like Tech's ordeal did.
