There is video of it from a neighbor's security camera, the house completely exploded ( no one was home) So now houses are exploding because of all the snow. More snow predicted for Thursday, yay!!
Yup, the second house that has blown up from a gas leak this winter! There's still some debate on the actual cause for both of them but IMO both were because people didn't keep their gas regulators free of snow build up. Whether the gas lines broke because of the snow weight or the regulator vent was frozen shut and the increased pressure caused the explosion is still in question. The damage to both houses is so extensive that it's pretty much a guess what actually caused the explosion but it was definitely from a gas leak! Being an old farm kid who is used to the regulator on a propane tank freezing the vent shut, clearing the snow from around the gas regulator is still my first snow removal after a snow fall. Today's scheduled activities is to fill the gas can for the snowblower and make sure it's ready to go on Thursday. Been a tough winter, the girls haven't had a week of school without a cancellation or at the very least a late start since Christmas vacation ended!
