Here's Something You Don't See Everyday

Took a drive out to Camp 18 today family and friends. It's about 90 minutes from my place and they have a lot of unique old stuff.

It would appear that this old truck stuffed an engine. For whatever reason, rather than rebuild it, someone opted to couple a Caddie flathead to the front of the crankshaft and keep on going!

old drilling rigs have multiple engines on them. a friend has his dads old driller. has a flatehead for power and 3 4 cyl flat heads to run the drill and lifts. looks like hell but has drilled water wells for over 70 years.

Hydromatic looks like it has a sprocket welded to the output yoke. No telling what it was driving. Backwoods engineering at it's best! Who am I to argue if it got the job done and I'll bet it did.

At a rural tractor pull event in central Missouri about 45 years ago I saw a home-built tractor that was MASSIVE. Only one engine, but it was an early Chrysler Hemi driving a three speed automatic which then fed into a three speed manual transmission. The rear wheels were lugged steel and stood nearly six feet tall. The thing was a Torque Monster!!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
