the big move
I haven't kept it a secret but in September of this year I plan to retire back to the Southwest USA. Little place called Alamogordo New Mexico. We've owned a house there for the last 10 years and it is currently rented. So I have started with the "What to keep" and "What to let go".. I know I have way too much to fit into the house there. So the easy steps are let go of the tractors.. which I have done for the most part, still some parts / pieces to move, but it's gonna be the prices that move 'em.. How LOW can you go! Since I share the shop / building here with some friends and we have not really hung out since Covid.. some want to pull out at the same time. So I've already "inherited" a drill press. It's a great piece so I'll keep it but here we go with a new game, how much can we squeeze in!?!?!?

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

That is part of the plan! I am tired of the cold but also the "Not Cold" & "Not Hot"... it's sometimes just gray, for days / weeks and it's so depressing. It is really just time for a change. So this should do it!!! LOL

Yeah, when we made the big move down here I believed I could get away with unloading much of the bulkier shop equipment pieces........................right. Ended up putting up a shop building and replacing some of the more necessary pieces anyway. Old habits................................Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

It's a bloody big job. When we moved to Tataraimaka I had fifty years accumulation of UGS (unused good stuff,) to decide what to keep and what not.. Most of the steel came with me, and any length of timber over six ft came too.
Shelves and display cabinets plus all that were on or in the shelves and cabinets, they had to be packed in their groups or sequences, the tandem trailer covered quite a few miles over a 3 month period, plus several full container loads on a hiab truck.
Once we'd moved in I found that now I don't use the steel as much...no heavy machinery (apart from my little 1 1/2 ton digger and my little Ferguson tractor,) is all sold, no big machinery = no heavy work = no breakages = no repairs so my welders don't get used any more...I actually gave my $5,000 mig welder to my son later.
That was the problem...I really didn't know what to take or what to sell or give away.
So...you're going to face the same problem.
Have fun.
I don't envy you...
Post script: Some of the stuff I threw out, sold, or gave away I've had to buy again...sob...johnboy
