Why is this website so slow to load
I love this website, probably visit it 2 or 3 times a day. Problem is, its slower than the creeping death. I'm on a high speed DSL hookup here, and all my other sites load up lightning fast. This site takes forever to load up, and forever to move from one forum entry to another. Is there something that I'm doing wrong, or does the websight need to upgrade something at their end?Old guy hot rodder

First, the website is extremely graphics intensive. All the ads, photos and avatars take up serious bandwidth. I'm guessing it's mostly due to server space and response, though. When you have mega-graphics, faster costs more . . .Jack

Hey Brian...I can't tell if CHR is slow...i'm on dial up...i'm used to everything being slower than a snails metabolism...Just so you understand what i'm talking about...I acutally timed how long it took for the page to load once I clicked "reply" to your post....18 seconds...it doesn't SOUND like that long...but look at your watch for 18 seconds...ha ha!!!You miss 100% of the shots you never take

18 seconds, that's it? Mine takes about 45 seconds. My computer is a piece anyways and only has 4 gigabites on it and I am on dial up. This site loads up slower than most other sites though.www.streamlineautocare.com

I am on DSL and am using a Gateway 310 series computer and all other sites load quickly. This one, however, loads slower than molasses in January.
I just timed it when making this post originally. Took 52 seconds.Duane S

Pass the hat around... I'm sure that Brent would invest in some new servers and a couple of T1 lines to feed us better if he just had a little better income stream from this website
Hey Mr. Mustang, are there any plans for updating the equipment for faster service?

Odd, it doesnt load slow for me. In fact, i think it takes about 3 seconds to load. Im on an AMD homebrew computer with a Athlon 3200, 256 megs or ram connected to a dsl line. I think the biggest difference is the Operating System. Im on Knoppix Linux using a GUI. Maybe its the windows factor? or maybe its Intel?Right engine, Wrong Wheels

I've got a g4 mac 1 ghz dual processor. It's about 2 yrs. old. Ancient by todays 'puterz.
1.5 GB SDRAM
If the hard drive gets too full it slows down. I use this 'puter for Digital print storage so it gets full allot.
eeekkk I just checked .......... on about 30MB left. Time for a flush I guess.Last edited by pro70z28; 11-18-2004 at 08:39 PM.

I'm on a big assed Hewlett Packard computer with 1.67 Ghz and 512 Mb SDRAM and 80 GIG hard drive (whatever that all means) and a high speed DSL cable link, and the web site loads slower than the creeping death. I had to buy this computer to run the engineering software that I use to make a living, and it loads every other site lightning fast. Maybe up here in Canada the electrons slow down when they cross the border from the States, ya know, cold shock.Old guy hot rodder

You know, I wonder if it isn't the Zone Alarm slowing mine down. But then again, it should slow it down on other web sites.Duane S
