Speaking of that, did you get your latest Social Security Earnings Statement yet? Tells you how old you got to be and how much (based on current contributions) your gonna get.
Did ya notice the little coveit at the bottom. "If Unca George W gets his way add 40 years".
And with that it's time to say "HiYO Silver" and exit stage left. Heheheheheheheh

No Cousin Duane, I don't read it.

When I took an economics course 35 years ago I learned that our Social Security system is a direct transfer tax, not a "savings/investment" account the "government" was holding on my behalf. I learned that the actuarials they used to determine payout amounts and age were predicated on most people dying before they reached that age. And I learned that at that time (late 1930's) that there were 16 workers paying in for every 1 retiree taking out. I did the math based on then projected birth rates, and saw that life expectancy was lengthening, and figured out that sometime in the early part of this century, around the time I'd be reaching 65, that there'd only be about 2-3 workers paying in for every 1 retiree taking out. Since the government wasn't really investing the money, just spending it as it came in, I didn't think the odds were very good that I'd ever collect a dime. Well, I was wrong..........sorta. It's going to be about 10 years longer before the system goes broke, if they don't do something about it, than I calculated. So I guess I'll get some money, if'n todays youngin's don't get too smart and revolt, but I determined back then that I'd do the good ol' American thing. I'd plan on taking care of myself and not count on Social Security, because it's a politicians false pledge...........................no matter what your political color is. And I think any politician who lies to us about the system not being in jeopardy, and a hellacious, monumental bad deal for young people today, is either dishonest or a fearmongering fool.................no matter what color he/she is. Both parties have kicked the can down the road long enough that a pox should be on both their houses.

The really sad part of it is, Bob, that they now call the payments to SSA recipients and Federal Retirees.......an entitlement by which the mean it is an un funded payment...........like we are on the frigging Dole..........but if the had invested that money they took from me and others.......we's all be vacationing in Florida in our "older" years..................SHEESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
